Flying Is Brought to Draenor in Patch 6.2 of World of Warcraft
The No. 1 good news: you’ll be able to use flying mounts in Draenor. Believe it or not. I have written an article which is named” No Flying Mounts in Future Expansions in World of Warcraft”. There lots of wowers expressed their ideas. Now the topic has new progress. You’ll be able to spread your wings and fly on a dragon or a robot or a different dragon or a different robot. Also, monsters. There’s no exact date, but it’s coming in “the near future.” Originally Blizzard was planning to keep players’ wings clipped permanently, as they felt that flying mounts discouraged people from exploring and enjoying the game’s lovingly world of warcraft.
Now the news you may or may not love, depending on how you feel about hoofing it across Blizzard’s cartoon fantasyland: you’re going to have to earn your license to danger zone by exploring on foot.
After a lot unsatisfied players from the community demanded flying being enabled in Draenor, Blizzard official claimed multiple times that they wouldn't do it, as the content would become easier and you could skip terrain while doing quests. Finally after all of the tireless discussions on the flying topic, they've came to a compromise. In an upcoming build, they plan to allow players to enjoy their hard-earned flying mounts in Draenor so that it at the same time, doesn't compromise the excitement of ground-based exploration.
Mastering the Outdoor World
In an upcoming PTR build, there will be a new meta-achievement called Draenor Pathfinder. You will earn this achievement in 6.2 by mastering the outdoor environment of Draenor - exploring Draenor's zones, collecting 100 treasures in Draenor, completing the Draenor Loremaster and Securing Draenor achievements, and raising three new Tanaan Jungle reputations to Revered. This achievement will initially award a rylak mount: the Soaring Skyterror, one of the native beasts that roam Draenor's skies. Flying will become available later in Patch 6.2 when all players who completed the Draenor Pathfinder achievement will unlock the ability to fly in Draenor on all their characters level 90 and above. I’m sure there’ll be some pushback, but it’s a pretty excellent compromise between Blizzard’s goals for WoW and what players demanded. It’s pretty much a perfect solution, I like wandering around, seeing the sights.
