Odyssey is an event in Final Fantasy XI that was added in the March 2020 update. It is a dungeon-crawling and loot-farming activity that can be accessed from Rabao by using a Moglophone. In this guide, we will explain the basics of Odyssey, the different types of Sheol, and some tips and tricks to help you succeed.

To enter Odyssey, you need a Moglophone, which can be obtained once per day. You can hold up to two Moglophones at a time.

Types

There are three types of battlefields: Sheol A, B, and C. Each one has a different entry requirement, difficulty level, and reward system. You can only enter one type of Sheol per day. Each type has a different layout, enemy composition, and objective. You can use your map to see the structure of the dungeon and plan your route.

But no matter what type, you will encounter two kinds of enemies: Nostos and Agon. Nostos are regular enemies that can be any non-Beastmen race, such as Orcs, Quadavs, Yagudos, etc. Agon are Beastmen enemies that are translucent and invulnerable until you destroy an Agon Halo near them.

Sheol A is the easiest and most accessible type of Sheol. There are seven total floors (named "Perditions" in-game) to explore. It requires only one Moglophone to enter, and you can bring up to six players or trusts with you. You have 30 minutes to explore the dungeon and collect loot. The main goal is to farm Lustreless Scales, which are used to upgrade Unity NM weapons, armor, and accessories. Here, you will find four rooms: a starting room, a treasure room, a boss room, and an exit room. The starting room has a Translocator that allows you to warp to any other room once per run. The treasure room has chests that contain loot, such as Lustreless Scales, Segments, Gaols, etc. The boss room has a boss that drops more loot when defeated. The exit room has a portal that allows you to leave the dungeon with your loot.

Sheol B is the intermediate type of Sheol. It requires one Moglophone and one Segment to enter, and you can bring up to six players or trusts with you. You have 30 minutes to explore the dungeon and collect loot. The main goal is to farm Lustreless Medals, which are used to augment Unity NM gear with special effects. In Sheol B, you will find six rooms: a starting room, two treasure rooms, two boss rooms, and an exit room. Their functions are the same as Sheol A.

Sheol C is the hardest and most rewarding type of Sheol. It requires one Moglophone and two Segments to enter, and you can’t bring trusts to Sheol C. You have 30 minutes to explore the dungeon and collect loot. The main goal is to farm Lustreless Remnants, which are used to create powerful Nyame gear. There are eight rooms in Sheol C: a starting room, three treasure rooms, three boss rooms, and an exit room. You can get loot like Lustreless Remnants, Segments, and Gaols in the treasure rooms.

Tips and Tricks

• Before entering Odyssey, make sure you have enough inventory space for your loot. You can also use Satchels or Sacks to store extra items during your run.

• Make sure you have enough buffs and debuffs for your party. You can use food items, potions, scrolls, songs, corsair rolls, etc., to enhance your performance.

• Make sure you have enough healing and recovery items for your party. You can use curative spells, items, trusts, etc., to restore your health and status effects.

• Make sure you have enough damage-dealing abilities for your party. You can use weapon skills, magic spells, job abilities, trusts, etc., to deal damage to your enemies.

• Make use of your Translocator wisely. You can use it to skip rooms or backtrack if needed. However, you can only use it once per run.

• Be careful of enemy aggro and links. Some enemies have True Sight or True Sound and will attack you on sight or sound. Some enemies will also link with others of the same type and gang up on you.

• Be careful of enemy abilities and special attacks. Some enemies have powerful moves that can inflict heavy damage or status effects on you or your party. You can use stun, silence, sleep, paralyze, etc., to interrupt or prevent them.

• Be careful of traps and puzzles. Some rooms have hidden traps or puzzles that can hinder or help you. You can use detect, widescan, sneak, invisible, etc., to avoid or solve them.

• Be careful of time and area limits. You have a limited amount of time to complete each type of Sheol. You also have a limited amount of area to explore. If you run out of time or area, you will be ejected from the dungeon and lose your loot.

• Be careful of other players and PvP. You can encounter other players in the dungeon who might be friendly or hostile. You can cooperate or compete with them for loot and objectives. You can also engage in PvP with them if you wish.
