In this WotLK Classic Dungeon Guide, we are going to focus on a preview of the Forge of Souls from the original Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft. Up to this point in the game, there have not been a lot of truly immersive and precarious dungeons, especially one part of a more expansion series of dungeons. The citadel's soul grinders must be destroyed. You will follow Jaina, for Alliance players or Sylvanas, for Horde players, through a sea of monsters in this icy hellscape.

WotLK dungeon-1

"For many years, champions among the races of Azeroth have stood against the Lich King only to be slaughtered mercilessly and forced to serve in his army of undead horrors. In his ongoing struggle to stop the Lich King, Tirion Fordring of the Argent Crusade has joined forces with Darion Mograine of the Knights of the Ebon Blade in order to assault Icecrown Citadel with a unified army called the Ashen Verdict" - Forge of Souls Dungeon Journal.

This WotLK Classic Dungeon Guide for the Forge of Souls will cover the monsters that players will encounter, strategies for the bosses, and any other tips you will need to know for the Forge of Souls. In the original Wrath of the Lich King, The Forge of Souls was part of a larger series of dungeons that told the story of the Icecrown Citadel. Players will need a good amount of WotLK gold to ensure they're properly stocked for the encounters, especially those who need a WotLK Classic Boost.

Forge of Souls Monsters

On the continent of Northend stands the entrance to the Icecrown Citadel. With Classic WotLK around the corner, expect the level of the dungeon to range around 75-80. While Forge of Souls only has two bosses, its mobs found in this dungeon are nothing to scoff at, so make sure you're stocked up on items with enough World of Warcraft Classic Currency to have a smooth dungeon run. You can find WoW Classic gold and other MMO currency on a trustworthy website, such as MMOGAH. Let us use this WotLK Classic Dungeon Guide to look at the non-boss mobs found in Forge of Souls.

WotLK dungeon-2

Soulguard Apparition

The Soulguard Apparitions have a distinct look as a floating skull with a rather long aggro range of about twenty yards. The last thing you want to do is aggro these as they cast Spite, a point-blank area of effect that can do over 500 damage if your party isn't fast enough to kill it. Once the Soulguard Apparition casts Spite, then it disappears, so knock it out quickly.

Soulguard Watchman

You will never find a Soulguard Watchman alone, as they always come in pairs. The important thing to look out for regarding these mobs are their Shroud of Runes attack, which is a reflect, and Unholy Rage, which buffs their damage and attack speed.

Soulguard Bonecaster

These skeleton mages are common in Forge of Souls and have a large attack that can hit enemies within thirty yards for about 4,000 damage. They can also absorb a hefty amount of damage that gets reflected to attackers within fifteen yards. Keep your distance and dispatch of Soulguard Bonecasters quickly.

Soulguard Adept

Soulguard Adepts are cultists that are as common in Forge of Souls. The Soulguard Adepts not only cast a Shadow Bolt attack that deals around three thousand damage, but they can also heal themselves while doing a whopping six thousand damage over time with Drain Life.

Soulguard Animator

Soulguard Animators are cultists, like Soulguard Adepts, they are just as common. They also cast Shadow Bolt, but it is their Soul Sickness that inflicts over 50% slow and a possible stun that can be devastating, even for a trash mob.

Soulguard Reaper

Soulguard Reapers are found in about four pulls in Forge of Souls. The important thing to look out for with the Soulguard Reaper is their Shadow Lance, which can deal almost 6000 Shadowfrost Damage.

Spectral Warden

The Wraith is a solo pull, and there are only three of them, but you want to avoid the Veil of Shadow that causes a curse. This curse causes heal reduction. That is not the only danger you must face with the Spectral Wardens; you must also deal with their long-range Wall of Souls that can do almost 6000 damage to anyone within 40 yards.

Soul Horror

The Soul Horror is unlike the other mobs in Forge of Souls. The Soul Horror is a Shadow and is part of about five pulls. You will see them being channeled by other mobs around it, so focus on taking them down before focusing on the shade itself.

Now that you are familiar with the mobs found in Forge of Souls, it is time to look at the bosses. Remember, making sure you've stocked up on WoW Classic TBC gold before moving onto Classic WotLK dungeons is almost essential to ensure you're well-prepared for the bosses ahead.

Forge of Souls Bosses

The single path that runs through the Forge of Souls leads through two bosses. In this WOTLK Classic Dungeon Guide, we will look at the Forge of Soul bosses and how you and your party can clear them to complete the instance.

WotLK dungeon-3

Bronjahm, The Godfather of Souls

To rid the Forge of Souls of the Soul Grinders, you must first contend with Bronjahm, the Godfather of Souls who oversees the engines. There are only two phases in the Bronjahm, The Godfather of Souls battle, but these are devastating phases that can wipe you and your party out if you are not careful. You will need to focus on kiting for much of the boss fight with the final phase not coming until the boss drops to 30% health.

During the first phase, it is essential to keep Bronjahm at a distance from the support classes, such as healers or ranged players. Everyone in the party must do their part during each mechanic, especially when a player besides the tank is targeted by Corrupt Soul. The reason they need to move the Corrupt Soul mechanic away from the party is it spawns Corrupted Soul fragments that DPS must burn down before they heal Bronjahm.

Once the party sees Bronjahm casting Soul Storm, then it is time to start the second phase. The party must move to the center of the arena to avoid taking damage. Even while the party is moving, it is important for the DPS to continue damaging Bronjahm to push past the last 30% of the fight.

If you need to get extra damage in between phases, a Paladin's bubble can mitigate a lot of the damage to ensure the party meets the DPS check. Don't forget, there's still one more boss after Bronjahm, so make sure you're well-prepared before the dungeon even before entering with enough WoW Classic WotLK gold. Now, it is time to move on to the Devourer of Souls.

The Devourer of Souls

Someone needs to watch over the souls that the Lich King collects, and the Devourer of Souls is the one to ensure nothing impedes that. The Devourer of Souls is a floating head with three faces. Obviously, this means there is going to need to be a lot more coordination between the party members. A lack of coordination during the Devourer of Souls boss fight in the WotLK Classic means a quick wipe for the party. If you do not come prepared with the right items with enough WoLK currency, then the Devourer of Souls might be a rough fight. Make sure you're also studying up on WotLK DPS rankings to put together the perfect composition for this dungeon.

WotLK dungeon-4

Everyone needs to make sure they are appropriately prepared for the fight ahead. Like many boss battles, the Devourer of Souls starts with the tank grabbing enough snap aggro for the DPS to start the damage phase. Players in the party should stay far apart from each other as much as they can to make sure that The Wailing Souls or Well of Souls does not deal unnecessary damage to other party members.

There is a group-up mechanic called Unleashed Souls. When players see Unleashed Souls being cast, the players should group together and be ready for the healer to keep everyone topped off while the DPS continues working down the boss.

The ability you will see the most, and the one that can be the most devastating, is the Mirrored Soul mechanic. DPS need to stop dealing damage until the mechanic ends or else, they might accidentally take out their own party member with friendly fire. Once the Mirrored Soul mechanic ends, then players can go back to dealing damage.

The Devourer of Souls is one of the more fun fights in any of the WOTLK Classic Dungeons. Once you have cleared, you can move on to the Pit of Saron by speaking with Jaina or Sylvanas (depending on your affiliation).

Finishing the Forge of Souls will earn you "The Forge of Souls" achievement on normal. Now that you have finished the instance following this WOTLK Classic Dungeon Guide: The Forge of Souls, then you will be prepared to eventually face off against the Heroic Version of this dungeon. However, that is a guide for another day while players await the next expansion for World of Warcraft Classic. Players who do not want to spend too much grinding should look into a WotLK Classic power leveling.

Do not let The Forge of Souls in WoW WotLK Classic be tougher than it needs to be. Being prepared in the previous classic expansion by bulking up on TBC Classic gold will ensure you have no issues when it comes to Forge of Souls in the Classic WotLK.
