PoE Royale Guide
Path of Exile: Royale is a Battle Royale style game where you start with a new character in a match with up to 100 players, and the last one to survive wins. You can have a lot of fun in a very short period. If you don't have a ton of time to play and want to do something cool, this is the perfect thing for you. In this guide, Behind Eyes Gaming and therealjameshumphrey will teach you how to win in PoE Royale.
Get AoE Skill Gems
You start on the beach with various weapons in the inventory, depending on your class. The first thing you want to do is rush and find the little chests that will be either in a house or under a tree because those chests contain Skill Gems. It is crucial to get an AoE Skill Gem in PoE that can clear minions or mobs quickly, so this skill can be Blight, Explosive Arrow, Sweep, Cleave, Ball Lightning, Frostbolt, etc.
Get Levels ASAP
After that, head inshore immediately and kill any blue packs or any tightly bound packs on your way with your AoE skill. The goal here is to reach level 4 as soon as possible to get access to Movement skills, which are the most important thing in PoE Royale.
Increase Your Movement Speed
The best options for Movement skills are Shield Charge and Whirling Blades, but Flame Dash, Dash, and Leap Slam are also helpful. If you run Shield Charge or Whirling Blades, you probably need either Dash or Flame Dash because you'll want to go over terrain quickly when you're either chasing people down or navigating the map.
Reaching a high level very quickly allows you to get many skill points. You will get two skill points per level, and having level 4 will enable you to start moving around the map faster.
Once you've got that done, go into the middle and find some of the bigger Caches. You want to look for gear and roll gear. Getting Movement speed on Boots is crucial. The stat ranges can be a little bit higher than you would expect for the ilvl of these items. For instance, you could potentially get 27% Movement speed, so don't be satisfied with your 10% Movement speed Boots you might have got in the beginning. Go ahead and keep using things such as alchs on Boots until you find a higher one that will make you run, dodge, or chase more easily.
Ignore Players at the Start of the Match
Once you have your skills leveled up and got some gear, you will start fighting players. As the arena gets smaller and smaller, players will be forced closer and closer together. Unless you get a very powerful skill at the beginning of the match, such as Blight or Explosive Arrow, you don't want to be fighting players at all.
Find Out What the Best Builds and Skills Are
Different skills require different builds. I found a lot of success with Molten Strike with the southern skill tree. You can get different Strike Range, Life Gain on Hit, or Blood Magic. One important thing to note is that Blight is extremely powerful. In the middle, you can get a node that decreases your Chaos Damage taken by 30%.
The right combination of skills is crucial, and what usually win are Strike skills, Whirling Blades builds, Blight builds, and Explosive Arrow builds. Quite a few different kinds of builds can win and, to win the game, you have to get the right gear, have the right build, and understand the Meta.
Don't Pick Up Everything
There are all sorts of different things you can do to increase your chances of winning. For example, you'll want to do inventory management well: picking up everything or having an inventory that's too full will not be helpful. You do need to check people's corpses, but you don't want to spend a lot of time doing it. Otherwise, people will get the jump on you. If there isn't anybody around and you see a dead body, or you just killed somebody, check it and only look for higher Flasks, Support Gems, and Uniques, and ignore everything else. You don't need to search everywhere in their inventory because it'll get you killed. You might miss out on something good, but there are a lot more risks than a reward in that particular case.
That is how to win in the Royale mode of PoE. Path of Exile: Royale will continue to appear on the weekends through Path of Exile's new Expedition League, and MmoGah will keep providing safe and cheap PoE currency for Expedition. For more PoE guides and tips, please stay tuned.
