Since its release, Elden Ring has had a variety of weapons, spells (sorceries, incantations), and items at its disposal. Many of them were in the shadow because of some minor weaknesses in their move-sets, FP cost, animations, and stat requirements.

In order to encourage players to employ different weapons in the game, From Software has been buffing and nerfing all the weapons in recent updates. In the 1.06 update, some armaments were buffed and nerfed, and in the most recent 1.07 patch, many swords and other items have undergone significant adjustments, largely for the better.

Although FromSoftware improved many things, we will solely focus on weapons in this article. These overpowered weapons have changed the game's dynamic in both PvE and PvP. So without further ado, here are some top picks.

Magma Wyrm's Scalesword

After the 1.07 Patch, the Magma Wyrm Scalesword became an S-tier weapon. This is a curved greatsword that damages enemies with both physical and fire damage. The Magma Wyrm Scalesword scales with Faith and Strength, and if you are using a Faith-based build, this is a weapon for you. This massive sword cannot be infused with Ashes of War, and you can upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones.

Weapon Skill

Magma Guillotine

This damaging skill got buffed in the recent patch. The poise damage got increased, and stamina attack-power (for the first attack). With this skill, you can leap forward and smash the weapon on the ground, sending a blast of magma wherever it lands. With extra inputs, you can perform chopping attacks after this move.

How to Get the Magma Wyrm Scalesword

You'll need to go to Liurnia of the Lakes to acquire this weapon. There are two methods to get to this region, which is located north of Limgrave. The first route is via Stormveil Castle. Since you must battle Margit and Godrick, this route can be dangerous if you are unprepared or have a low-level character. Remember that you can always buy some Elden Ring runes to upgrade your low-leveled character.

The second way is if you go east of Stormveil via the Cliffside path. When you arrive in Liurnia, proceed to the northern section, where there is a sizable ravine. Find the Ruin-Strewn Precipice by going into the ravine's bottom. This dungeon links Liurnia and Altus Plateau. In the end, you will find a tricky boss, the Magma Wyrm Makar. After you defeat him, you will obtain the Magma Wyrm's Scalesword.

Ornamental Straight Sword

If it wasn't before, this weapon is now also an S-tier weapon. After the 1.07 Patch, the Ornamental Straight Sword, to be more precise, the Golden Tempering got a nice buff. The Ornamental Straight Sword basically consists of two separate swords. Once equipped, you can decide whether to hold both weapons simultaneously or just one. Because the weapon's scaling is entirely focused on Dexterity, I would advise using it on a build that prioritizes Dexterity. This way, you will reach its true potential.

Special Skill

Golden Tempering

So what's new? They added the ability to stop the fully charged version of the heavy attack a little bit early, which means that you will not be stuck in animation if you don't want to. They increased the poise damage and strong attack motion speed, and on top of that, the stamina damage against the opponents using a shield is now stronger when you're using the heavy attack.

Additionally, they increased the attack power of the effect that gives this sword a holy attribute. Lastly, there is a shorter delay between activating a skill and being able to perform actions. In all fairness, this is a much better weapon now.

How to Get the Ornamental Straight Sword

You don't have to go very far to get this weapon. Actually, you don't need to leave the game's starting area. You'll need to kill the boss called Grafted Scion to get this weapon. Unfortunately, with a new character, this will probably be challenging. Therefore, you'll need to upgrade your character as fast as possible. One way to do it is by buying some special Elden Ring items that can help you a lot at the beginning of the game.

You can also fight this boss later in the game if you were unable to beat him at the beginning. First, go via or around Stormveil Castle in order to reach the Liurnia region, which is located north of Limgrave. Search for a region known as the Four Belfries, which is atop a mountain on Liurnia's western side. There you will find three warping stones, but you'll also need the special keys, and when you use the top portal, it will bring you back to the Grafted Scion.

Serpent Hunter

One weapon that has been buffed recently is the Serpent Hunter. This weapon scales primarily with Dexterity and Strength. Players who used this Great Spear know its true strength, even before the 1.07 Patch. There are no stat requirements for the Serpent-Hunter Spear. This implies that, in theory, anyone can try this weapon in their Build. If you are not sure what Build you should try next, here are some Elden Ring OP Builds after the recent patch.

Weapon Skill

Great-Serpent Hunt

This amazing skill not only looks cool, but it also deals some damage from a distance. You'll make a strong forward lunge, then use additional input to execute an upward thrust. Before the 1.07 Patch, it was great, and believe it or not, and it got buffed. The recovery time was decreased, and now this skill deals even more overall and poise damage.

How to Get the Serpent Hunter

The Serpent-Hunter Spear can only be discovered once in the game, on a body in Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy's arena. The weapon will vanish if you defeat Rykard without grabbing it, and it won't reappear even in New Game Plus. You should remember that if you haven't finished the game.

The Serpent-Hunter cannot be infused with Ashes of War, and you can upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones.

Loretta's War Sickle

In the recent patch, this weapon's Ash of War, called Loretta's Slash got quite a nice buff. They actually boosted the Ash of War's Poise damage, making combos considerably simpler. Now it's much easier to harm your opponent with the initial slash than it was in the past when many opponents would tank the first hit and be able to dodge out of the second. They boosted the damage of the first attack, causing the Ash of War's initial slash to deal significantly more damage, and they also increased the Ash of War's overall attack power.

Elden Ring Weapons-3

Weapon Skill

Loretta's Slash

As I mentioned above, this skill got buffed and is even more deadly. Apart from the poise damage that got increased, the delay between the action/slashes has been reduced. The FP cost for this skill is 14.

How to Get Loretta's War Sickle

You must travel to Loretta's location to obtain this weapon. This optional boss is near the base of Miquella's Haligtree. Just head east from Haligtree Town Plaza Site of Grace to get to Miquella's Haligtree. Before starting your travel, make sure you are ready for the encounter by stocking up on HP and Flasks at the Site of Grace.

Before you get to the portal that leads to the boss's location, there will be some enemies, but you can easily avoid them. Cross the fog and find Loretta to start the fight. Although fighting Loretta may be challenging because she will be riding a horse, so strategically timed melee strikes are your best option.

Siluria's Tree

Some of Elden Ring's most efficient weapons are spears. Although they typically have a single target focus and provide thrust damage, some of them in the game have amazing AoE strikes.

Siluria's Tree Great Spear is one such spear that deals an enormous amount of damage and can easily dispatch some of the game's more challenging enemies. The most interesting thing for us here is its unique skill called Siluria's Woe which got buffed in the recent patch, so now it is even deadlier.

Weapon Skill

Siluria's Woe

As I mentioned above, this skill got buffed, so it made some significant changes to the weapon. The motion speed is increased, as well as the poise and power damage during activation. On top of all that, the projectile can now harm enemies and even some objects when charged. Those changes are really dope, which moved this weapon to an S-tier now.

How to Get Siluria's Tree

To obtain this weapon, you'll need to do a few steps. Here you can find a complete guide on how to get Siluria's Tree.
