Preparing for the release of the Wrath Classic has almost the same to-do list for all players. Whether you've been grinding in Outland and currently in the Sunwell Plateau, just returning to prepare for the release, or a total newbie, a very common question is how to farm gold easily and fast. That's why MmoGah has prepared this very intuitive guide on making WoW WotLK Classic gold in time for the release. You can also check our video about How to Solo Farm Gold 900G Per Hour in Zul'farrk.

These are the most efficient use of your time goals through your Wrath Classic prep. Nothing in the guide as well is required to enjoy and have fun playing WotLK, but it will help you make the best use of your time to make a lot of gold. However, you can decide to buy fast Wotlk Classic gold if you don't have too much time to grind for gold.

Some General Tips First

Feel it's right to give some short steps to take a right from the start to get you started on the right foot, as well as some important things to have in mind as you start your jolly grind. So here goes.

Choose your professions wisely if you are to focus on fast gold-making. In that regard, some professions are better than others. More on that later in this guide.

Figure out how to use macros. It's a very useful tool that'll make your questing, farming, grinding, and leveling faster.

Do every quest you can. Questing is one of the best ways to level, so you get not only gold but also other items you'll need.

Learn how to use the Auction house. An auction house can make you lots of gold regardless if you are dealing in epic weapons, potions, etc. Learning its use can be tricky, but it'll sure come in handy along the way.

Get your backpacks very early, and get a big one as the more items you can hold, the more you stand to make.

Fight mobs about 1-4 levels below you. Why? Well, the faster you kill enemies, the more money and items you get.

Think about getting a mount as soon as possible. This will help you travel faster and make more money. For this, you can go ahead to purchase some Classic WotLK gold to get you sorted easily.

And lastly, you start to more money when you reach level 10, so you may want to level up to 10 fast.

What's All The Fuss About Gold in WotLK Classic?

Just like the previous World of Warcraft expansions, you need gold in the WotLK Classic as well, whether it is buying new equipment and weapons to gear up your character, riding flying mounts in Northrend, or you just want to have as much as possible to afford anything you want. Therefore, safe to say, the more you have, the better. So you have the options of farming gold yourself or buying from reputable and secure third-party sellers like MmoGah.com. So below are some of the reasons you need to get a lot of gold ready for the Wrath of the Lich King Classic release.

Dual Talent Specialization

This is going to be incredibly useful for any character you choose to use moving on into the Wrath Classic. The feature enables you to have two different specs that you can choose to switch between at any time you want. It's going to be helpful for pretty much any of your characters, allowing you to have, say, a PVE spec and a PvP spec or a questing and dungeon spec. This ultimately saves a lot of gold and, in the long run, opens up a lot of opportunities for you as you play.

It's something you're going to learn from your class trainer, which will cost you 1000 gold per character you want it on. Also, your character is required to be over level 40. So you'll want to note how many 1000 gold increments you'll need the per amount of characters you'll need it on.

Cold Weather Flying

Cold weather flying is a hugely important quality of life feature that will conveniently help you while you play through Northrend. It is most likely the next purchase you'll make, and this once again costs 1000 gold per character. Cold weather flying won't be available at pre-patch as you'll be able to get it at level 77 as you level.

It's what will enable you to fly Northrend because a great part of the zone won't be available until you are able to fly we'll unless you get a temporary flying mount from a vendor. That said, it is a must-have for any character looking to take part in the Northrend content. Now, that makes 2000 gold per character already with both of our mentions.

Dalaran Rings

The ring of the Kirin Tor is a luxury but decent item to have. Mostly because of its teleport-to-Dalaran functionality. This will allow you, if you want, to set your hearthstone somewhere else where you farm or are reading at that current moment, for example, and then easily go back to Dalaran easily.

WotLK Classic gold farming-2

It'll be another important quality of life feature, except if you are playing a mage. It costs 8500 gold and requires you to be at level 80. And although it's a nice feature to have, it's not compulsory. However, it's pretty convenient and will surely be on the shopping list of most players. Unlike others, the cost depends on your reputation with the mages of Dalaran, the Kirin Tor Faction. And if you can get it up to exalted, you can get this ring as cheap as 6800 gold. These rings are also upgradable by tendering the ring and about 1200 gold for every time you want to upgrade. So at default, you have them at 200 item level, and you can get them as high as 251 item level through upgrades.

Traveler's Tundra Mammoth

This is a mount with a vendor on it. Obviously, it is another quality of life feature that's not compulsory but very useful. They are, however, very expensive at a whopping 20,000 gold and about 16,000 gold with a reputation. Now, fortunately, the reputation required is the Kirin Tor reputation, just like it is for the ring. So getting that reputation makes things a lot easier.

Our Gold-Making Guide

Our guide will be down to 3 different sections when Wrath of the Lich King Classic gold-making is concerned.

GDPK RUNS

If you're unfamiliar with this, it's an auction-style raid where you bid on items dropped during your raid runs. The highest bidder gets the items, and the gold from the bids is put in a pot. The pot value will keep increasing until the bidding is over and then distributed among all members equally (well, unless the organizer takes a special cut).

GDKP runs are one of the easiest ways to get gold. All you need to do is:

Have a high-level alt character that is decently geared

Run with a group that will clear the content faster

Set an overall bid limit for yourself if you are over-geared to avoid overspending.

Setting this limit is important because you don't want to go ahead to spend more gold on a raid and then get back without actually making any gold. You can determine the average payout of the particular run and then set your limit a few hundred gold below that amount. You also want to participate in bidding on items because your chance of getting called back for a run will decrease if you don't.

Questing

Questing is probably the most popular way to make gold, and a great thing about it is that you can actually do some gathering profession as you go. Another great thing about this method is the experience points to gold conversion ratio, which will be 6 copper for every XP you gain. The XP to gold ratio, however, only works if you are not more than 5 levels above what's required for the quest. If this is the case, you get diminished rewards.

Your gold reward will be reduced by 20%, for example, if you complete a level 74 quest at level 80, but for level 75 and above quests, no penalty. So it's better to save those 75 and above quests for later when you are maxed out and get cracking on the lower level ones so as not to lose rewards.

Additionally, you have the option to go on daily quests in a situation where you don't have quests to complete anymore. Daily quests not only reward you in gold but some reputations and crafting rewards.

Professions

Based on gold-making potential, we categorized professions into three:

Ones with steady income

Enchanting, alchemy, cooking, and jewel-crafting all fall under this category. These professions are crucial, especially jewel crafting and enchanting, because, throughout the expansion, players will always seek to upgrade their gear with the best enchant and jewels.

WotLK Classic gold farming-3

Cooking and alchemy fall under the consumable category, which includes potions, food, elixirs, and stuff raiders need to get the most output. Another benefit of alchemy is the ability to transmute items, and an especially important one they do is turning rare gems into epic gems, which is useful to jewel crafters.

Now, an important note about getting gold through your profession is looking for a niche and focusing on items with low supply or high demand. You don't want to start making items that every other person is making, as this will reduce your gold-making potential.

Cyclical income professions

These ones are the gear crafting professions such as tailoring, blacksmithing, and leatherworking. They are important for when new raids drop new raids introduce new patterns that contain recipes for binder-equipped items like the Pattern: Belt of Arctic Life. So getting these patterns at the start will make you a lot of gold. However, the value and potential diminish as time goes on as more and more players acquire those items. In addition, tailors can make bags that every player wants, and blacksmiths can add gem sockets to belts and bracers.

Short-term income professions

Herbalism and Inscription fall under this category. Although herbalism can easily be added to the first category of steady income makers, there is a period where its value will be high. That's because it's tied to the inscription profession.

WotLK Classic gold farming-4

Inscription is the brand new profession that'll be introduced into Wrath Classic, and it will be a valuable one right at the start of the expansion because of the glyphs it produces and the Darkmoon cards.

Glyphs are very similar to enchants and jewels, but I like those. They are bound to characters instead of gears. This means it'll be a very valuable profession at the start as players move to gather glyphs for their different characters. And, of course, the demand will go down as time goes by.

Getting Ready For Pre-patch

For professions such as jewel-crafting, enchanting, alchemy, and cooking, you can get started now and gather stuff to sell later. Tailoring and blacksmithing might have to wait till we get the new patch, but for herbalism, you can start preparing as soon as pre-patch lands.

WotLK Classic gold farming-5

Create a druid dedicated to mining and Herbalism and level it up to 70 while also leveling up the professions themselves (Mining and Herbalism) in the process. While you're leveling up your professions, you're sure to get mining materials and herbs. Mining materials you can sell immediately for gold, but you'll want to hold on to your herbs. Once you reach level 70, you want to continue gathering herbs as much as you can until pre-patch.

Once pre-patch lands, you can offload your herbs at the auction house either at once or in batches according to the demand. However, there will be competition from everyone trying to level up Inscription looking for herbs that they'll end up at the auction house, which is how you make a lot of gold.

Also, once the expansion goes live, you want to level up your druid to 80 as fast as possible, so you get cold weather flying and continue to gather herbs and materials. Once the hype is gone, you can then go on to focus on the steady income professions like enchanting, alchemy, cooking, and jewel crafting.

So there you go. These are some of the ways to not only get yourself set for the expansion but go on to make a lot of gold when it launches.
