ESO Races 2019: Which Race to Play?

There are three Alliances and ten playable Elder Scroll Online Races. Unless you buy the Adventure pack from the Crown store, you can't choose which Alliance you'll be in. But don't worry, your Alliance only matters in PvP. Other than that, it just defines your starting zone and some other locations in the PvE content. Dc Daggerfall Covenant

 

Breton (DPS/Healer) 

Their first passive increases the experience gain with the Light Armor skill line and the Alliance points you get in PvP by 1%. Other than that, it is a purely Magicka-focused race. They are excellent damage dealers or healers.
 

Passive Skills:

Opportunist: Increases experience gain with the Light Armor skill line by 15% and your Alliance Points gained by 1%. 

Gift of Magnus: Increases your Maximum Magicka by 2000. 

Spell Attunement: Gain 2310 Spell Resistance and 100 Magicka Recovery. The Spell Resistance granted by this effect is doubled if you are afflicted with Burning, Chilled, or Concussed. 

Magicka Mastery: Reduces the Magicka cost of your abilities by 7%.

 

 

Orsimer (DPS/Tank)

They gain more experience on the Heavy Armor skill line, and they learn the Crafting skills faster. Since they have Stamina, Health, and Weapon damage bonuses, they are very good for damage dealing or Tanking. If you want to have a Crafter character, then you should definitely go with this one. 

Passive Skills:

Craftsman: Increases your experience gain with the Heavy Armor skill line by 15% and your crafting inspiration gained by 10%. 

Brawny: Increases your Max Stamina by 2000. 

Unflinching Rage: Grants 1000 Max Health and heals you for up to 600 when you deal damage with a weapon, with a 4-second cooldown. 

Swift Warrior: Increases your Weapon Damage by 258. Reduces the cost of Sprint by 12% and increases the Movement Speed while Sprinting by 10%.

 

 

Redguard (DPS)

The last race from the Covenant and the most important one is the Redguard. First of all, they can level up their One-handed and Shield skill line faster, and they get an extra 15 minutes of food buff, which is more useful than it sounds.

 

Because of the reduced cost of the weapon abilities, the extra stamina, and stamina restoration, you should go with the Stamina as your main resource because the passives give you a very good sustain. For that reason, Redguards are perfect for damage dealing.

 

Passive Skills:

Wayfarer: Increases experience gain with the One-Handed and Shield skill line by 15% and the duration of eaten food effects by 15 minutes. 

Martial Training: Reduces the cost of your Weapon abilities by 8% and the effectiveness of Snares applied to you by 15%. 

Conditioning: Increases your Max Stamina by 2000. 

Adrenaline Rush: When you deal Direct Damage, you restore 950 Stamina. This effect can occur once every 5 seconds.



 

Aldmeri DominionAldmeri Dominion

 

Altmer (DPS/Healer)

Altmer or High Elves gain more experience by 1%, which is almost nothing. But they also learn the Destruction Staff skill lines faster by 15%. As you can see, this is a Magicka-focused race. In fact, they are one of the best Magicka races currently. They can be very good damage dealers or healers.

 

Passive Skills:

Highborn: Increases your experience gained by 1% and the experience gain of the Destruction Staff skill line by 15%. 

Spell Recharge: Restore 645 Magicka or Stamina (whichever is higher) after activating a Class Ability. This effect can occur once every 6 seconds. Reduces damage taken by 5% while you are using an ability with a cast or channel time. 

Syrabane's Boon: Increase your Max Magicka by 2000. 

Elemental Talent: Increase your Spell Damage by 258.

 

 

Bosmer (DPS) 

The Bosmer, or Wood Elves can learn the Bow skill line 15% faster, and they take less fall damage. It is a Stamina focused race, and they are very fun to play in PvP mainly because the Hunter's Eye passive. But they are also very good damage dealers in PvE.

 

Passive Skills:

Acrobat: Increases experience gain with the Bow skill line by 15% and decrease your fall damage taken by 10%. 

Y'ffre's Endurance: Increases your Stamina Recovery by 258. 

Resist Affliction: Increases your Max Stamina by 2000 and your Poison Resistance by 2310. You are immune to the Poisoned effect. 

Hunter's Eye: Increases your detection radius in Stealth by 3m. After using Roll Dodge you gain 10% Movement Speed and 1500 Physical and Spell Penetration bonus for 6 seconds.

 


Khajiit (DPS)
 

The last Aldmeri Dominion race is Khajiit. They have an increased experience gained with the Medium Armor Skill line, and they have a better chance at pickpocketing. This race is a Hybrid. They have an equal amount of Stamina and Magicka bonuses, so it's quite beginner-friendly. They are a good choice for damage dealing. Other than that, the 10% critical bonus makes them very powerful in PvP.

 

Passive Skills:

Cutpurse: Increase the experience gain with the Medium Armor Skill line by 15% and your chance to successfully pickpocket by 5% 

Robustness: Increases your Health Recovery by 100 and you Stamina and Magicka Recovery by 85. 

Lunar Blessings: Increases your Max Health, Magicka, and Stamina by 825. 

Feline Ambush: Increases your Critical Damage and Healing by 10% and reduces your detection radius in Stealth by 3m.

Argonian (Tank/Healer) 

They learn the Restoration Staff skill line faster, and they can also swim faster. They have very good sustain and extra Health, and many people use them for Tanking because of that. But they can also make decent Healers because of the increased Healing done and the extra Magicka bonuses.

 

Passive Skills:

Amphibian: Increases experience gain with Restoration Staff skill line by 15% and your swimming speed by 50%. 

Resourceful: Increases your Max Magicka by 1000. When you drink a potion, you restore 4000 Health, Magicka, and Stamina. 

Argonian Resistance: Increases Max Health by 1000 and Disease Resistance by 2310. You are immune to the Diseased status effect. 

Life Mender: Increases your Healing Done by 6%.

 

  

Dunmer (DPS)

Dunmer, aka Dark Elves have an increased experience gained with the Dual Wield Skill line, and they take less damage from lava. It is also a hybrid race, just like the Khajiit. They get the Maximum Magicka and Stamina bonus and increase Weapon and Spell damage, so they are good for Damage dealing.

 

Passive Skills:

Ashlander: Increases the experience gain with the Dual Wield Skill line by 15% and reduces your damage taken by environmental lava by 50%. 

Dynamic: Increases your Max Magicka and Stamina by 1875. 

Resist Flame: Increase your Flame Resistance by 2310. You are immune to the burning status effect. 

Ruination: Increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by 258.

 

 

Nord (Tank) 

They gain experience 15% faster with the Two-Hand Skill line, and the effects of the drinks last 15 minutes longer for them. Because of the increased Stamina, Health, Physical and Spell Resistance, and the fast Ultimate generation, they are one of the best races for Tanking.

 

Passive Skills:

Reveler: Increases experience gain with the Two-Handed Skill line by 15% and increases the duration of any consumed drink by 15 minutes. 

Stalwart: Increases your Max Stamina by 1500. When you take damage, you gain 5 Ultimate. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds. 

Resist Frost: Increases your Max Health by 1000 and your Cold Resistance by 2310. You are immune to the chilled status effect. 

Rugged: Increases your Physical and Spell Resistance by 3960.

 

 

Imperial (Tank) 

Unlike the other races, Imperial can choose their Alliance even if you don't have the Any race, Any Alliance upgrade. Imperials gain experience faster on the One-Handed and Shield skill line, and they get a little faster ESO gold as well. The 3% cost reduction to all abilities is a nice bonus. Because of the huge amount of extra Health and Stamina, players usually use the Imperials for Tanking, but they are also often used in PvP.

 

Passive Skills:

Diplomat: Increases experience gain with One-Handed and Shield skill line by 15% and increases your gold gained by 1%. 

Tough: Increases your Max Health by 2000. 

Imperial Mattle: Increases your Max Stamina by 2000. 

Red Diamond: Grants 3% cost reduction to all abilities. When you deal direct Damage, you restore 333 Health, Magicka, and Stamina. This effect has a 5-second cooldown.
