What to Know Before Becoming a Werewolf

The Ultimate Guide to ESO Werewolf P1

It is crucial to consider the consequences of becoming a Werewolf in The Elder Scrolls Online before delving into the process. A player must be fully aware of the abilities that come along with being a Werewolf, as it requires significant adjustments to their play style. Therefore, we shall begin by examining the benefits and drawbacks of becoming a Werewolf in ESO.

Benefits

Upon becoming a Werewolf, you get access to a whole range of new skills. Furthermore, there are two different morphs of all the active skills and the ultimate transformation ability. However, at the same time, you also lose access to all your current abilities. But the new skill buffs are a worthy trade-off for losing temporary access to your current abilities.

The first morph of the Werewolf Ultimate is known as the "Pack Leader," and the other is called the "Werewolf Berserker".

Pack Leader lets you summon two more Werewolf companions who assist you in battles. Also, your Max Stamina is increased by 30%, receiving 10% less damage. In addition, your Weapon and Spell Damage is also increased by 215.

The Werewolf Berserker lets players take on a ferocious rage, tearing apart everything that lay in their path. As such, while the Max Stamina is increased by 30%, your Heavy Attacks also deal 50% more damage. In addition, the Light Attacks apply a bleed for 3,716 Bleed Damage over 4 seconds.

The other active abilities include Pounce (Brutal, Feral), Hircine's Bounty (Rage, Fortitude), Roar (Ferocious, Deafening), Piercing Howl (Despair, Agony), as well as the Infectious Claws (Anguish, Life).

This is not the end of the picture yet. A whole lot of passive skills further back your active skills. These are Devour, Pursuit, Blood Rage, Bloodmoon, Savage Strength, and Call of the Pack.

The Devour passive skill, for instance, lets you eat up a corpse which usually takes up to 4 seconds. And each second adds up to 3 seconds to your Werewolf Transformation duration. Pursuit, on the other hand, increases your movement speed by 30%, whereas Blood Rage proves pivotal to increasing your Werewolf Transformation duration. Where Savage Strength increases Weapon and Spell Damage by 18%, it also increases the Physical and Spell Resistance by 5,948.

And lastly, if the increased attack buffs didn't satisfy your bloodlust, know that you can also use Potions to give yourself Major Brutality and Major Savagery while in Werewolf Form. This will further increase your damage. However, you would need to spend the gold or time crafting to get a few stacks of these potions. But since players don't have enough gold with them all the time, they can always buy ESO gold and get these potions because they are absolutely worth it!

Drawbacks

Where we get a wealth of abundant unbelievable skills and bonuses as a Werewolf, these are not without their drawbacks. After all, if not for the drawbacks, everyone would have become a Werewolf, and the level of balance in ESO would have been all but long lost. These weaknesses ensure a balanced distribution of power in the world of Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Now, the first biggest challenge of being a Werewolf is remaining one once transformed. This is because you only last being a Werewolf for a mere 30 seconds, which is not enough for obvious reasons. Hence, calculating when to use this Ultimate Ability is of utmost importance.

There are many ways to increase this time limit, but it requires work, and the given circumstances need to be in your favor. For example, the passive Devour skills increase your time interval for being a Werewolf as long as you feed on corpses. But if there are no corpses, then there are no chances for your increasing time.

Yet another main issue with Werewolves in ESO is that they have no defensive abilities. This, in turn, makes them prone to various attacks and hence hard to keep alive.

Furthermore, you cannot cleanse negative effects. Therefore, you have to find ways to reduce the damage taken from your enemies. One possible way is to out-heal whatever damage you take.

Also, since Werewolves are bigger in size, they are often the center of attention and the primary target of choice by many players or NPCs. As a result, it becomes very difficult and annoying to be a Werewolf. And yes, you will also run into trouble if any form of Defile is applied to you, as you cannot get rid of it yourself.

Lycanthropy (Sanies Lupinus)

The Ultimate Guide to ESO Werewolf P2

Now that we have explored the pros and cons of becoming a Werewolf in ESO, it is time to get acquainted with Lycanthropy.

Also known as Sanies Lupinus, Lycanthropy is a disease that ultimately converts you into an ESO Werewolf. It is contracted by NPCs or ESO players already afflicted by it. However, not every attack from Lycanthropy-infected NPCs will afflict you with Sanies Lupinus disease. And once infected, players choose either to embrace their inner beast and learn to control their transformations by completing a quest or to cure it by visiting one of the Mages Guild buildings as per their starting Alliance.

How to Become a Werewolf in ESO – All 3 Ways Explained

Having gained an understanding of what it entails to become an ESO Werewolf, it is time to learn the different ways to achieve this transformation. As such, there are a total of three different ways.

These methods are valuable for players who have already decided to embrace the ferocious power of Lycanthropy in The Elder Scrolls Online. If you are one of those players, you are in the right place. Now without any further delay, let us begin!

Let an NPC Werewolf Infect You

The only way that will not cost you any Gold or Crown. However, it is easier said than done since a lot of patience and effort are required.

Firstly, you need to be in one of the three areas in Tamriel where Werewolf NPCs spawn. These areas are the final zones of all three factions: Aldmeri Dominion's Reaper's March, Daggerfall Covenant's The Rift, and Ebonheart Pact's Bangkorai.

When encountering Lycanthropy-infected NPCs, there is no need to go on the defensive or offensive. You have to let them attack you, and only then can you be infected with Sanies Lupinus. However, remember that not every attack will guarantee the success of being infected with the disease. The chances are slim but worth it if you get one since there will not be any need to spend unnecessary gold or Crowns.

Also, note that Werewolf NPCs do not spawn whenever you want them to. They only appear at night times and that, too, only during the full moon.

Ask an ESO Player with a Werewolf Character in the Game to Bite You

For those who find the first step too challenging or tedious, there is a more straightforward alternative method to become an ESO Werewolf. And this is to request by requesting a bite from another player who is already a Werewolf in the game.

You can start by finding someone willing to give you the Werewolf bite. For this, you will need to ask around in zone chat in larger cities or in the areas where Werewolf shrines are located.

While some players may charge a hefty sum of gold for their services, many are willing to give the bite for free. However, remember that the player giving the bite must have the Bloodmoon passive unlocked in their Werewolf skill line, and they must bite you next to one of the Werewolf shrines. Otherwise, the infection won't take hold.

Each Alliance has one shrine. Players of Aldmeri Dominion can get bitten in Reaper's March, while Daggerfall Covenant players can get bitten in Bangkorai. As far as the Ebonheart Pact players are considered, they can get bitten in The Rift.

If you cannot find anybody to give you a bite (with or without gold), consider using the Guild Finder to look for guilds that are known for Werewolf bites. With a little patience and perseverance, you will be able to join the ranks of the Lycanthropes in no time!

Buy Werewolf's Bite from the Crown Store

Should neither of the previous methods be your cup of tea, the Crown Store offers yet another way to obtain the Werewolf's Bite in ESO. It costs 1,500 crowns, and we do not recommend using this method. Although the final decision is up to you, the other two methods of becoming a Werewolf in ESO are much more feasible and do not consume much time.

The Quest to Become a Werewolf

Hircine's Gift Quest

Hircine's Gift Quest

Once you become infected with Sanies Lupinus, you are all set to take your first step towards becoming a Werewolf by completing the Hircine's Gift Quest. Remember that if you purchased the Werewolf's Bite from the Crown Store, you will instantly become a Werewolf, and there is no need for the quest.

When infected by a Werewolf NPC, you need to speak Thoreki (a female NPC) that, depending on your Alliance, will either be in Rawl'kha, Riften, or Evermore. She will instruct you to seek out the Packmaster that will eventually lead you to Songamdir at the Werewolf ritual site. After a little talk, Songamdir will open the portal to Hircine's Realm.

The site's location will depend on your Alliance. It will either be near the Fort Sphinxmoth in Reaper's March, Fort Greenwall in The Rift, or the Viridian Woods in Bangkorai.

However, if you were bitten by a Werewolf player, instead of meeting Songamdir, you will read an ancient scroll on the altar before entering the Hircine's Realm.

At The Hunting Grounds, you will be required to kill a monster and bring it as a tribute to Hircine before ultimately kneeling before him. Hircine will then grant his blessing, and you will gain access to Werewolf transformations and the Werewolf skill line. After having done the quest, you will be a fully-fledged ESO Werewolf.

Which Is the Best Werewolf Race in ESO?

Orc in ESO

Orc in ESO

Werewolves in The Elder Scrolls Online are known for their insanely high Stamina, raw brute power, and fast movement speed. Therefore, it is better to choose a race that has more Stamina, is stronger physically, and is faster at the same time. All in all, any race would be OK, but if you ask, the Orc Race is the best recommendation.

Orcs are one of the strongest Stamina races in ESO. The 1,000 Max Stamina and 256 Weapon Damage both scale up even further with modifiers. And on top of this, they also get a 1,000 Health boost.

Moreover, the Swift Warrior skill increases Weapon Damage by 258 and reduces the Sprint Cost by 12%. It also increases the Movement Speed while sprinting by 10%. Also, the Brawny skill increases the Max Stamina by 1,000.

How to Cure Lycanthropy in ESO

After going through everything about becoming a Werewolf in ESO, we will now talk about curing its disease.

Assuming that becoming a Werewolf in ESO was exciting at first, and you reveled in the fear that your power instilled amongst your enemies. However, the novelty soon started to wear off, and now you find it more of a hindrance. So, can it be reversed?

The good news is that Lycanthropy can be cured just like every other disease in The Elder Scrolls Online. For this, you need to visit Prelate Sabinus, who can be found at the Mages Guild of every faction:

•    If you joined the Ebonheart Pact alliance, visit the Riften Mages Guild building located in The Rift.

•    If you joined the Aldmeri Dominion alliance, visit the Rawl'kha Mages Guild building located in the Reaper's March.

•    If you joined the Daggerfall Covenant alliance, visit the Evermore Mages Guild building located in Bangkorai.

There, talk with the Priest, and he will cure Lycanthropy for a small gold fee.

Conclusion

We know many players grow tired of being a Werewolf a couple of days after becoming one. However, you should spend some time weighing up Lycanthropy's positive and negative effects on the individual character you are considering infecting before you turn them for certain.

Mastering the Werewolf skill line in ESO takes effort and commitment, and it won't happen overnight. It requires dedication and practice, but the results are worth it. As you become more skilled, you will instill terror in your enemies and achieve great success as a fearsome beast.
