Season of Discovery Phase 2 Huge Class Changes

eason of Discovery Phase 2 will come on Feb 8, raise the level cap to 40, and add a new 10-man version of Gnomeregan as the second endgame raid. It will also introduce new runes for at least one additional slot and new class quests and rewards.

There are some significant class changes in Phase 2 that can enhance gameplay and strategic options. These changes spanned various classes:

 


Druid

One notable addition is the new spell, Everbloom, known as Enhanced Restoration. It is a new Abilities spell that Druid healers can use. It makes the enemy target bleed over time by slashing them. The bleeding can stack up to 5 times on one target, which helps with threat generation.

Druids will update in Feral Combat and Restoration, with abilities like Lacerate and Mangle for Feral Combat and changes to Rejuvenation and Regrowth for Restoration.

They will be able to use the new rune of the chest, which will grant them access to the Moonkin Form, a shapeshift that increases their spell damage and critical strike chance. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new weapon, the Staff of the Green Circle, which has a chance to heal them or their allies when they cast a spell.

Hunter

Hunters receive modifications in Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival, with abilities such as Multi-Shot, Aimed Shot, and Raptor Strike being adjusted.

 


They will be able to use the new rune of the head, which will grant them access to the Bestial Wrath, an ability that increases their pet's damage and makes it immune to crowd control effects. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new pet, the Spirit Beast, which has a unique ability to heal itself and the hunter.

Mage

Mages experienced changes in the Arcane, Fire, and Frost specializations, including adjustments to Arcane Intellect, Arcane Explosion, and Blizzard.

They will be able to use the new rune of the legs, which will grant them access to the Ice Barrier, an ability that creates a shield of ice that absorbs damage and prevents spell interruption. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new wand, the Mage's Wand, which has a chance to cast a random spell when used.

Paladin

Paladins had updates in Holy, Protection, and Retribution, with changes to Blessings, Seal of the Crusader, and Seal of Blood.

They will be able to use the new rune of the feet, which will grant them access to the Crusader Strike, an ability that deals physical damage and generates holy power. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new mount, the Charger, which has a faster speed and a unique appearance.

Priest

Priests will be revised in Discipline and Shadow, with Power Word: Fortitude and Shadow Word: Death being notable changes.



They will be able to use the new rune of the hands, which will grant them access to the Power Infusion, an ability that increases the spell damage and healing of themselves or an ally. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new trinket, the Eye of Divinity, which has a chance to reveal hidden enemies or allies when equipped.

Rogue

Rogues experienced adjustments in Assassination, Combat, and Subtlety, including changes to abilities like Deflection and Shadow Dance.

They will be able to use the new rune of the shoulder, which will grant them access to the Adrenaline Rush, an ability that increases their energy regeneration and attack speed. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new dagger, the Barman Shanker, which has a chance to apply a deadly poison when it hits.

Shaman

Shamans underwent changes in Elemental, Enhancement, and Restoration, with Lightning Bolt, Shamanistic Rage, and Chain Heal being some of the modified abilities.

They will be able to use the new rune of the back, which will grant them access to the Elemental Mastery, an ability that increases their spell damage and critical strike chance. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new totem, the Totem of the Earthen Ring, which has a chance to summon an elemental ally when placed.

Warlock

Warlocks will be able to use the new rune of the waist, which will grant them access to the Soul Link, an ability that links them with their demon and shares damage and healing. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new demon, the Infernal, which can be summoned to deal fire damage and stun enemies in an area.

 

Warrior

Warriors will be able to use the new rune of the wrist, which will grant them access to the Mortal Strike, an ability that deals physical damage and reduces healing on the target. They will also be able to complete a class quest that will reward them with a new sword, the Quel'Serrar, which has a chance to increase their armor and damage when it hits.

These changes were designed to provide more dynamic and varied playstyles for each class, enhancing their roles and effectiveness in different scenarios​.
