Today we are talking about the fastest skills to reach 99s in Old School RuneScape. This guide is showing you those skills which are the fastest 1-99 based on the time taken. There is also cheap OSRS gold for sale at MmoGah for players who want to save time and get to 99s fast and easily. Content for this article was inspired by Theoatrix OSRS's video.

This guide is showing you the skills that are the fastest from level 1 to level 99 based on the time taken, not necessarily the efficient hours played. That means this won’t be including things like Farming or Birdhouse runs because they take months to reach 99.

If you were wondering doing the best trees and fruit trees you can plant, doing two tree runs with one fruit tree run per day, it would take 167 days of farm runs to get from level 15 to level 99 Farming. That can be sped up with things like Calquat trees, Hardwood Trees, and Herb runs. So it would take 130-140 days of farm runs.

We are going from fastest to slowest ones. Also, I will only be including the viable methods which won’t cost you an extraordinary amount of RuneScape 2007 gold.

Fastest 99s

1. Fletching

The fastest skill is Fletching, and Youtuber EVscape currently holds the fastest recorded record of 3 hours and 9 minutes to level 99, averaging 4M XP/H.

Due to the low profit and XP of cutting bows, fletching darts is an efficient and fast way to level up. Using mouse keys, which is actually allowed by Jagex, you can reach up to 9M XP/H making Dragon darts.

Fastest Route to 99

Starting with bronze arrows, then moving onto Bronze through to Dragon darts, you can get to level 99 for a total cost of 120M OSRS gold.

You can save a lot of Old School RuneScape gold by only fletching Mithril darts. Or, you can dabble into fletching bolts or javelins which sometimes can lead to a profit while giving massive XP rates.

Mithril Darts

- 7 Hours to 99

- Total Cost: 51M OSRS gold

For those who are not willing to spend that kind of money on fletching, you can cut bows, and getting from 1 to 99 doing the best shortbows and longbows that you can, it takes about 80 hours to reach 99 Fletching.

Short/Long Bows (Cut & String)

- 80 Hours to 99

2. Prayer

The second fastest 99 in the game is Prayer, and offering bones at a Lit gilded alter or the Chaos altar by using each bone on the altar, you can get massive XP rates.

Normal AFK offering bones gives about half of the XP rate when compared to clicking each one onto it.

Fastest Route to 99: The fastest way to 99 Prayer is using Dagannoth bones until level 70 where you unlock the ability to use Superior dragon bones. Getting to 99 takes only 10 hours if you do it manually clicking.

Dagannoth Bones (levels 1-70) + Superior Dragon Bones (Levels 70-99)

- 10 Hours to 99

- 210M OSRS gold

Here are some more viable methods:

Wyrm Bones

AFK: 51 Hours - 250K XP/H

Clicking: 27 Hours

Cost: 68M OSRS gold

Drake Bones

AFK: 32 Hours - 405K XP/H

Clicking: 17 Hours

Cost: 93M OSRS gold

Hydra Bones

AFK: 23 Hours - 565K XP/H

Clicking: 11 Hours

Cost: 131M OSRS gold

Dragon & Wyvern Bones

AFK: 38 Hours - 275K XP/H

Clicking: 20 Hours

Cost: 87M OSRS gold

Wyrm Bones are really cheap and still decently fast. Doing Hydra bones all the way to 99 will take almost the same amount of time as Dagannoth and Superior Bones. The cost of all these assumes that you are using a Gilded altar. So, if you were to do this at the Wilderness Chaos Altar, the cost would be half, depending on how often you die.

It is recommended to click on each bone at the Wilderness Altar so that you spend less time with a lot of risk. But with banking being a much further distance, the XP rates are a little lower.

A much more cost-effective way to train your Prayer level is Ensouled Heads, and with 93 Magic, you can cast Reanimate Dragon Heads. If you were to hypothetically go from level 1 to level 99 using this spell with a cannon, it takes about 33 hours with a much lower cost of 63M rsgp.

Ensouled Dragon Heads

- 33 Hours to 99

- Up to 430K XP/H

- Cost: 63M OSRS gold

93 Magic is a super high requirement. So, a more reasonable one is Troll Heads at level 46 Magic. Reaching level 99 costs about only 32M rsgp, and it takes about 65 hours to get to 99.

Ensouled Troll Heads

- 65 Hours to 99

- Cost: 32M rsgp

3. Construction

Another fast skill is Construction which is another one on which you have to blow a lot of OSRS gold to level it up effectively.

Fastest route to 99: Making Crude wooden chairs (levels 1-19) and Oak chairs (levels 19-33) takes about 1 hour. Then, getting from level 33 to level 52 takes you another hour by making Oak Larders.

From level 52, making Mahogany Tables takes 22 hours to get to 99, and the time could vary a bit depending on your internet speed, focus, and how precise you are with your game ticks.

The time can be sped up by making Gnome Benches at level 77 where you can get +1M XP/H, and it takes 19 hours to get to 99. But the click intensity and focus is incredibly high. While that is super-fast, it does cost 182M OSRS gp.

Gnome Benches

- 1M XP/H

- Cost: 182M OSRS gold

- Faster Method

For those who are looking to spend less RuneScaep gold, Oak Dungeon Doors are the best option.

From level 33 to level 74, you can do Oak Larders, then, from 74 to 99, you can make Dungeon Doors. It will cost you only 84M RS gold, taking about 38-40 hours.

4.
Cooking

The next fastest 99 is Cooking. Making jugs of wine to level 99 takes only 22 hours with a low cost of 20M OSRS gold.

Jugs of Wine

- Levels 38-99

- 22 Hours to 99

- Cost: 20M OSRS gold

You’ll stop creating bad wines at level 68. So, in order to save money, it is recommended to cook Lobsters or Tuna until level 68 and then wines to 99. This will take about 27 hours but cost only 10M RuneScape gold.

Jugs of Wine

- Levels 68-99

- 27 Hours

- 10M OSRS gold

1 ticking Karambwans: A faster way to get 99 is 1 ticking Karambwans which is a profitable method, and you can get 1M XP/H. Overall, getting 99 takes approximately 16 hours with quite a bit of focus.

5. Firemaking

Arguably the easiest 99 in the game due to it giving a profit and being very quick with easy requirements, is Firemaking.

If you were to light normal through to Maple logs to level 50, it takes only 35 minutes. From 50 to 99, doing the Wintertodt will take 55-65 hours, depending on how you play the Wintertodt.

The best way to play for the highest XP rate is not to fletch. You’ll need to pay more attention, because to get 500 points per game, you want to watch the brazier for those extra points repairing and relighting. Moneywise, you'll profit 6M-10M rsgp, depending on your luck with drops – pretty good for a fast 99.

Some players would argue that the Wintertodt is not the fastest method, and that the best method to reach 99 is to light logs instead. At a cost of 23M OSRS gold, you can burn Maple, Yew, Magic, and Redwood logs to 99, taking only 35 hours which is almost half the time compared to the Wintertodt.

For a comparison, at level 90 Firemaking, lighting Redwood logs gives you 400K XP/H, whereas the Wintertodt gives only a maximum of 300K XP/H.

4 More Skills

Below are 4 skills that have a similar time range getting from level 1 to level 99. Their overall time is nothing near the 3 hours of 99 Fletching, but they are still very fast 99s.

1. Crafting

Crafting is super fast if you have a decent amount of OSRS gold to blow on it. Doing gems then Battlestaves to 99 takes 38 hours. Gems, then Dragonhide Bodies will take 35 hours, and in contrast, Glassblowing to 99 takes 108 hours with a far, far lower cost of 25M rsgp .

Battlestaves

- 38 Hours

- Cost: 80M OSRS gold

D’hide bodies

- 35 Hours

- Cost: 157M OSRS gold

Gemstones

- 34 Hours

- Cost: 160M OSRS gold

Glassblowing

- 108 Hours

- Cost: 25M OSRS gold

2. Magic

Next is Magic which can be done passively through things like Magic Imbue, Slayer and Teleports. But one way to get it really fast is Enchanting Bolts. You can get from level 1 to level 70 in only 3 hours. Enchanting Dragonstone Bolts to 99 when you unlock them, which isn’t overly expensive, will take a total of 38 hours to level 99.

You can get to level 99 faster by barraging at the Monkey Madness 2 Caves. But that has its own high requirements.

3. Herblore

Herblore can be done super fast if you are willing to spend a bit of OSRS gold. Currently, the fastest Herblore method in the game can get you over 650K XP/H.

Getting to 99 will take about 25 hours with Anti-venoms (unlocked 87 Herblore). But the click intensity is even higher than that of 1 tick cooking.

Doing the fastest potions you unlock until Saradomin Brews and making them to 99 takes only 36 hours with a whopping 150M RuneScape gold.

A more viable way is Ranging Potions. It takes a little longer, but it is half the price. I do recommend making Super combat potions (unlocked level 90 Herblore) when you unlock them instead of Saradomin Brews because although they are a little slower, you will save so much RuneScape gold.

Ranging Potions

- 44 Hours from 1 to 99

- Cost 83M OSRS gold

Super combat potions

- 3 rsgp/XP

- 300K XP/H

4. Smithing

The final skill is Smithing, and since the fastest method - Gold Bars at the Blast Furnace is unlocked at only level 40, you can take advantage of over 350K XP/H from a super low level. That makes 99 only 37 hours from level 1, with a far lower cost than most of the skills that are mentioned before in this article.

Making Gold Bars at the Blast Furnace (unlocked level 40 Smithing)

- 37 Hours to 99

- 350K XP/H

- Cost: 60M OSRS gold

Summary

Below are all of the fastest methods for each skill with their time to reach level 99.

Fletching: 3 Hours (Best Darts)

Prayer: 9 Hours (Dagannoth Bones + Superior Dragon Bones)

Cooking: 16 Hours (Karambwans)

Construction: 20 Hours (Mahogany)

Firemaking: 35 Hours (Best logs)

Crafting: 34 Hours (Gemstones)

Magic: 38 Hours (Enchant bolts)

Herblore: 25 Hours (Anti-venoms)

Smithing: 37 Hours (Blast furnace)

Of course, almost all of these are very expensive methods, but by no means are they not viable or not worth doing.
