Diablo IV will open its 2.0 Public Test Realm (PTR) from September 5 to 12, allowing players to experience upcoming changes and new content in advance. This time, Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred is truly arriving with significant changes. Let me walk you through them slowly.

Leveling Adjustments

  • The character level cap has been raised to 60, adding 10 more skill points compared to before.
  • After reaching level 60, further leveling will grant Paragon levels, which can be used to unlock the Paragon Board.
  • All characters will share Paragon levels.

Attribute Adjustments

Adjustments have been made to Vitality, Armor, and Core Attributes, making the values easier to understand without affecting character abilities. We’ll see exactly how intuitive these changes are in the PTR.

New Difficulty System

The difficulties have been reclassified into Normal, Hard, Expert, Penitent, and Torment (which is further divided into four levels), totaling eight difficulties.

Normal and Hard are unlocked by default, Expert difficulty requires completing the game’s prologue, and Penitent difficulty automatically unlocks at level 50. Torment difficulty is linked to the tiers of Nightmare Dungeons and has four levels: Torment I, II, III, and IV. Upon reaching level 60, players can unlock Pit tiers 1 to 20, which are the new Nightmare Dungeons.Torment Difficulty Unlock Conditions:

  • Complete Pit tier 20 to unlock Torment Difficulty I.
  • Complete Pit Tier 35 to unlock Torment Difficulty II.
  • Complete Pit Tier 50 to unlock Torment Difficulty III.
  • Complete Pit Tier 65 to unlock Torment Difficulty IV.

In this difficulty, player attributes will decrease as follows:

  • Torment I: Reduce Armor by 250, all resistances reduced by 25%.
  • Torment II: Reduce Armor by 500, all resistances reduced by 50%.
  • Torment III: Reduce Armor by 750, all resistances reduced by 75%.
  • Torment IV: Reduce Armor by 1000, all resistances reduced by 100%.

Runeword System

The Runeword system will be available on the PTR starting September 7, but in the live version, this feature will only be accessible with the purchase of the "Vessel of Hatred" DLC. Runewords are similar to the diablo 4 items: gems, which you can obtain effects similar to powers by socketing them.

Runes in Diablo IV are divided into two categories: Ritual and Sanctuary.

  • Ritual Runes typically require a specific action to trigger their effect, such as using a basic skill, ultimate skill, drinking a potion, getting injured, etc. Performing these actions will grant Sacrifices.

  • Sanctuary Runes are triggered using the Sacrifices obtained from Ritual Runes.

For example:

BAC is a Ritual Rune that triggers after moving 5 meters, granting 50 Sacrifices.

Game Icon

JAH is a Sanctuary Rune that consumes 500 Sacrifices to make Teleport replace your next Dodge.

Game Icon

When these two runes are combined, they create a new effect: every time you move 50 meters, you can trigger the Mage’s Teleport Enchantment skill, turning your next Dodge into a Teleport (usable by all classes).

Through the Runeword system, you can use skills from other classes or temporarily increase your movement speed and skill levels. Currently, there are 17 types of Ritual Runes and 28 types of Sanctuary Runes, allowing for numerous combinations.

Rune Characteristics:

  • Can be traded
  • Can be stacked
  • Each rune can only be equipped once
  • A maximum of two Runeword sets (four runes) can be equipped
  • Available in Magic, Rare, and Legendary qualities, with higher qualities providing stronger effects
  • Three identical runes can be combined into any new rune, with a chance to create higher-level runes
  • Runes can be combined to craft items like Holy Unique equipment

Monster Level Adjustments

Monster levels will no longer be displayed and will instead scale according to the selected difficulty, allowing players to freely choose their challenge level. This means that monster levels will no longer change with the player’s level.

Paragon System Update

Glyphs

Leveling up Glyphs no longer requires experience points; it’s now tied to completing Pit Tiers. The maximum Glyph level has been increased from 21 to 100. Rare Glyphs can be upgraded to Legendary at level 45 using Gem Shards, gaining the following bonuses:

    • The Glyph’s radius increases from 4 to 5.
