If you are new to Final Fantasy XIV or plan to play it in the near future, here I offer you some tips, and some tips even old players don't know of. They can make your game experience smoother and save you from troubles.

FFXIV Beginners tips 2021

The road to 70

How you want your character to look is totally up to you, it doesn't have a large effect on your stats. But there is one thing you should know about homeworld choosing. If you see a star on the right side of a server, that means EXP bonuses are currently being granted to all new players created on this world. It is a massive increase of EXP gained from level 1-70. It is made to help new players to catch up.

The road to 70

There is another cool thing about The road to 70, which is when you level up a character to 30, 15 days of game time will be added to your account.

You will also get 10 Silver Chocobo Feathers to exchange for gear (level 20, 50, 60, and 70) at an NPC called Calamity Salvager.

The NPC locations in three starting cities are:

Ul'dah - Steps of Thal (X:12.6 Y:13.1)

Old Gridania (X:10.0 Y:8.4)

Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks - The Aftcastle (x:11.4, y:14.4)

It is recommended that you hold on to those feathers till level 50 to exchange for level 50 gear. But if you feel it is too slow to kill or you want to upgrade your equipment frequently, then I suggest you buy some FFXIV Gil and buy gear on the Market Board to make the killing faster.

Main Scenario Quests

Main Scenario Quests (MSQ) are quests that tell the main story of Final Fantasy XIV. Their icons have a circle with flames over an exclamation point, and they often have cutscenes. You can also unlock important features like airship travel, Grand Company access, a personal Chocobo mount, dungeons, and trials through the progression of the main questline.

Food Effects

Before starting any quest or dungeon, be sure to eat some food. You can find food from various vendors all over each settlement and town. Eating food gives you the Well Fed buff for 30 minutes. It can increase all EXP gained by 3%. It is not a ton, but every little bit helps.

Skills

Learn what your skills do before using them. As you level up, you will unlock new skills. Read what it does first. By default, new skills are automatically added to the next available slot in your skills menu. Highlight the skill and get an overlay that appears explaining what the skill does.

You can also go to Main Menu - Character - Actions & Traits to look at your skills. You'll find a full list of your current and future talents.

Hall of the Novice

At level 15, you can talk to an NPC called The Smith in Hall of the Novice, located at the Adventurers’ Guild in each city and several other locations. He will put you through trials, teaching you about your class. It will grant you significant EXP and some high-quality gear. Once you complete all of these trials, you will be rewarded with a ring. The ring increases 30% EXP gained until level 30. But do not ditch it after you hit 30. You can save it for other jobs you play in the future.

Brand-new Ring

Aetherytes

One thing you will be doing a lot on your journey to level 80 is teleporting. So It is best to activate every Aetheryte you run by, the Big ones and small ones. In this way, you can travel there fast in the future.

Inventory Settings

The inventory view by default can be quite cumbersome. You have to navigate through pages to find something. Well, here is a tip that will make it easier. To improve the view of your inventory space, press escape and go to Character Configuration, select Item Settings. On the top, you can see Inventory Settings, set the Inventory Interface to Open All. Then it shows all your times in one place.

Target Settings

The original setting is automatically facing target when using action, but if you play a melee class, it will be hard to dodge attacks, which may get you killed in the later dungeons. If you want a bit more freedom during combat, then you can turn off the auto face target when attacking. Go to Character Configuration, Target Settings, then turn off Automatically face target when using action.

If you play a caster, you should have the Automatically face target when using action selected because you have to face the target for the attack spell to cast. You do not have to face your target when using a healing spell.

You can try and see which way suits you the best. You can always go to the settings to turn it on or off.

Free Company

Finding friends to play with will make the game more enjoyable. A Free Company is what you will be looking for, and there is a great way to find one that suits you, which is through the Community Finder website. It allows you to find Free Companies that are recruiting on your server.

Patience

If you find it too slow or boring before level 30 and do not care about the stories, then you can skip it to rush to the higher levels because It gets great later, especially around level 50. You can also buy Power Leveling to get to higher levels. If you want to know the whole story in the future, you can always make an alt to review it.

Do not give up too fast on your first try is what I heard from other veteran players who eventually fell in love with the game, so I suggest you bookmark MmoGah for your future needs. They provide FF14 Gil, FF14 Power Leveling, FF14 play guides, and news about the game.
