Raids are the core of the endgame in Final Fantasy XIV, posing the greatest challenges and offering the strongest loots. This article will introduce some tips for raiding, which might save you from some unnecessary mistakes.

Finding The Right Group

The first and the most important tip before raiding is finding the right group.

There are two ways to find groups in FFXIV.

  1. Use the Party Finder. But when using the Party Finder, there are too many uncertain things, and in the end, it might be a waste of your time.

  1. Form a group with your friends. But sometimes, it can be hard to form a full group with only friends.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with bringing a few friends then using the Party Finder to fill the rest spots. In this way, you know there are a few people you can rely on, and it will make your runs more consistent. It is the only way to get experience on the mechanics you are currently progressing on.

Come Prepared to Raids

The next one is that you should always come prepared for raids. You should pay more attention to preparing before raiding is consumables and some knowledge about the fight.

First of all, it is about consumables. Food should be running at all times. If you lack it, you can buy some FFXIV gils to get it. To save your FFXIV gold, you can choose some cheap food while practicing.

As for the knowledge about the fight, you should prepare it by watching some guides online. This will give you a general idea of how to solve the mechanics that you are going to encounter.

Use a Job You Know Well

The third tip is to avoid using a job you are unfamiliar with. Raids are some of the hardest content in the game, requiring all of your attention.

It would be best to use a job you used to play, which makes learning new mechanics a lot easier. If you don't feel super comfortable on the job, you can practice on a dummy for a while to get the muscle memory. You can use the current extreme trials to get used to your rotation at the max level.

Common Damage Pitfalls

The last important tip is that everyone in your party deals as much damage as possible. Both healer and tank damage is really important. Because at the end of the day, if you wipe to an end rage, it does not matter which party member was missing the 1000 DPS you needed.

The single biggest contributing factor to your overall DPS is uptime. Uptime is the amount of time you spend hitting the boss per fight, and you can gain uptime by having your tank position the boss in a good spot. Every moment the healer has to spend healing the party, they are not heating the boss. Every single job in the game has some way of mitigating incoming damage.

Slide Casting for Casters in FFXIV

Slide casting allows you to cast back to back while moving around, so instead of running without casting anything, you can now run around while casting to deal as much damage as possible.

At the end of a cast, there is a slight time frame where you can move, and the cast is still going to go off, so you can reposition before you start the next cast.

To understand the time frame, you can put an emote on your Hotbar, and you can move whenever it lights up during the cast.

These are the tips I have for raiding. Thank you for reading, and I hope that's helpful.
