Welcome to our WotLK guide: 10 tips for Ulduar. We will share the 10 tips that might help you through the first clear of Ulduar.

1. Do 10-Man Raid First

Do your 10-man first. A lot of you have never done Ulduar, so the 10-man variety is a great way to learn mechanics. Pick up some great loot and have a good time while doing it on an easier difficulty than 25-man. Knowing these basics will go a long way toward downing the 25-man stuff early on.

2. Bring Offspec Stuff

Healers bring DPS gear and specs. There are fights like Yogg-Saron, which holds your hard-mode stuff. You only need a few healers, and having that extra DPS will help; adversely, DPS hybrids bring your healing gear and specs. We flex to six healers for Mimiron and Freya because the DPS check isn't tough, and having a safety net of the extra healer can go a long way toward keeping the raid up in week one.

3. Resistance Buffs

Lesser Flask of Resistance and Scroll of Enchant Cloak - these little things will help tremendously in a lot of fights here. We use them on Iron Council, Freya, Mimiron, and Thorim. They help mitigate a lot of damage that might otherwise overwhelm you early on.

4. Trash Strategies

Let's talk about the trash here. Everything through XT-002 Deconstructor is pretty easy, but some of the stuff in the Antechamber can truck without a bit of a plan. These guys jump at people at range, so if you stack, it won't jump; also, face it away, and it does a cone. Now, these two guys, after Kologarn and around this main room, need to be tanked away from each other; they'll spawn Lightning Orbs and move from one to the other.

If one XT-002 Deconstructor reaches another, it does a bunch of damage and causes issues, so just take them away from each other and have DK chains of the basin. Also, they need to die around the same time, or the alive one will enrage, so make sure you split DPS. In Hodir's hallway, these Snow Piles hide Monger, so be careful about getting too close around them, or you'll pull a bunch of mobs. Also, in this hallway, the Winter Revenants have a buff called Shield of the Winter Revenant that reduces AoE damage by 90%, so make sure to single target them first before you tackle the rest; also, in Mimiron hallway, there are mobs called Clockwork Sapper. When it dies after around five seconds, its courses explode and kill anyone close by, so be careful and move away from its body. Otherwise, the trash isn't too bad.

DID YOU KNOW?
If you buy gold instead of farming it yourself, you will be able to enjoy the game more, rather than just spending hours grinding.

5. Repair Vendor

This Ogre is on the right here as your zone in repairs and sells reagents. Don't get caught with your pants down, and repair that gear as you progress through Ulduar.

6. T8 Weakaura Packs

Weakaura packs are hugely helpful. I recommend Thames and Fojji. Both are fantastic and have a lot of great features that will help you through this place, things like timers, frames glow, and other features that are intuitive and massively useful.

7. Don't Talk to NPCs

When you defeat each of the keepers, they will take up their posts in a center room above Yogg-Saron. If you talk to them, they'll lend you their help on the Yogg-Saron fight. However, do not talk to them if you are going for Yogg-Saron. It cannot be undone, so avoid talking to these NPCs unless you know what you're doing, or your raid will be bad.

8. Use the Teleporters

This is an obvious one. There are teleporters all over the place in Ulduar, and you should use them to get from place to place quickly. If you accidentally click somewhere you don't want to go, just click the teleporter again that you landed on and select the right room pretty nice.

9. Use Time Wisely

Make good use of your time. Don't spend too long working on hard modes. You have no chance of getting them. Just do normal mode and move on. This place is big, and you've got a lot of work to do.

10. Use Your Cooldowns

Maybe the most important tip is here - plan your cooldowns. You can plan and use AMS, IBF, Hellstone, Shield Wall, and Pain Suppression. You'd rather get further in the fight than die with them, so use them.
