A Full Guide to WoW Dragonflight's Talent Tree System

By Danikhan Thu Nov 03 2022 16:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

WoW Dragonflight is one of the most anticipated games of 2022. This is the upcoming 9th expansion pack of the World of Warcraft Series. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is an online multiplayer game with the same developer, and publisher, Blizzard Entertainment and was announced in April 2022, and it will be released on November 28, 2022.

After the successful launch of the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, fans have been patiently waiting for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. As you would know, back in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard substituted a small selection of powerful talents for the game's original tree-based talent system. While the game's readability increased, particularly for beginner players, it also lost some of its depth, and Blizzard is working on adding it back in.

Moreover, the pre-patch of Dragonflight arrived a few days ago, and the iconic talent class tress has returned to the game. This gave us a chance to figure out the class changes before the official release, and that is not it; if you want to try out the new Dracthyr Evoker, then you will have two more weeks as the second part of the pre-patch will arrive on November 15. But it is worth the wait, is not it?

Also, lead narrative designer Steve Danuser and lead combat designer Brian Holinka discussed the benefits of the updated talent tree for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight in a pre-brief session with Polygon.

Brian Holinka further said that "The intention is that players can still feel comfortable playing the classes that they know,""We don't want to be overly disruptive and someone logs in on patch day, and they just are like everything on my action bars changed, I don't even know how to play this class I've been playing for 10 years anymore."

Holinka made his intention pretty clear that gamers who are seeking something familiar will be able to create their character in a "very comfortable and familiar style," as the company aims to preserve what the players already know.

Although the principles of each class won't change, talent trees provide you with a lot more flexibility in how you may play your chosen specialization. In this guide, you will learn how the new talent trees system work in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.

Changes in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's Talent Tree System

As you would know talent tree is not anything new. If you are new to World of Warcraft, you might see that it has not been present in the game since 2012. It's not that the talents weren't still current, they were but very limited as the meta for skills in raids, Mythic+, and PvP was typically predetermined. And you are even tied to your chosen specialization. Despite that, players still enjoyed the World of WarCraft Series, so we can only expect the best from the new game.

If you are playing the World of Warcraft series from the beginning, you will know how excellent and enjoyable the talent tree system is and its benefits. Of course, there are some changes from the previous ones, and in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's talent trees are like the pre-Mists of Pandaria version, but this time you will be limited by your spec.

Every class will have a primary talent, followed by a secondary tree for your selected specialization. You cannot disregard the class tree and put all your points into your specialization or vice versa because the talent points are divided equally between the two.

Moreover, the new Talent Tree System for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will be available with the pre-patch. It brings back a system with an actual tree of skills, where the options and possibilities may appear limitless and may look familiar to seasoned players. The exciting thing is that some talents open new opportunities, while others mark the end of a particular branch.

So, it might get a little complicated as it will take some thinking and perhaps some trial and error to determine which skills are most suited for your course of material. But it would be fun if it wasn't like this. At least, that is what I think. It doesn't necessarily mean you will have to spend so much time choosing the most appropriate skills. If you are a veteran, you might be able to select them early, but it will take more time than usual.

That is it for the main changes or the changes we were able to detect in the beta, or now let us move up to more details of the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's talent tree system.

Did You Know?

If you wish to get better at WoW Dragonflight, and want to annihilate your foes with ease, then you might be interested in getting some World of Warcraft gold for yourself, so you can purchase the best of the best weapons and armor. To do that, there is an easy way and a hard way. The hard way is to grind your way up to the required amount, while the easy way is to just purchase them from MmoGah.

Details of the Talent Tree System

Let's talk about the class and spec talent trees, as it will be your most exciting topic. Remember that Each class will have two talent trees: a class tree and a specialized tree, and when selecting your skills, consider how your class and specialization talents will interact to create some lethal builds.

You leveling up the talent tree might not represent your end-game talent tree, as some talents will level lock. As explained earlier, you should take your time while selecting your talents. Some legendary powers from the Shadowlands will be accessible to players as talents in their new talent trees; however, these skills do not stack. Legendries won't be deactivated outside of Shadowlands content for a while, so be sure to use your skills wisely.

How to Earn, Assign, and Reset Talents

The first thing you must do is gain a level, and with every level gained, you will get talent points for either your class or specialization. If you don't know how to check how many points you have earned, then check how many points you have for every tree at the top of the interface.

New rows of skills with additional possibilities become available when you invest points into a talent tree. Before selecting choices on rows below them, you must acquire all the ranks offered by some skills. When you have finished allocating talent points, click the Apply Changes button at the bottom of the window. Keep in mind that you cannot modify your skills until you have used all your allotted points.

Now for resetting your talents, you can reset your talents anywhere, anytime in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight except for when you are in a fight, in active PvP matches, and in dynamic Mythic+ dungeons.

You can change your talent simply by right-clicking on any talent to unlearn it. If you want to reset the whole tree, then right-clicking a skill in an upper row will instantly unlearn talents below it, allowing you to reset the entire talent tree. You may also select the red Reset All Talents option if you want a brand-new start.

Loadouts

Once you have set your skill and are happy with it, you may store it as a loadout, enabling a one-click selection of a predetermined set of talent options. To begin, choose New Loadout from the drop-down option on the interface's bottom left side, then give your Loadout a name. Then simply select your talent options and click on Apply Changes, and your Loadout will be created.

If by any chance you want to share your setup, you can do it by simply copying and pasting your skill data into any document and then choosing Share from the drop-down box will let you either back up your Loadout or share it with others. Moreover, the Import option allows you to paste the data and name the setup if you wish to duplicate someone else's skills.

The Search Bar

This feature can come in handy as it allows you to find synergy and look for particular abilities, keywords, or even related talents. Moreover, you can quickly find skills that are missing from your action bars by using the Search Bar. You can enter the name in the search box, choose it from the results, and then press enter. After that, a blue magnifying glass will show you exactly where it is.

Starter Builds

Each specialization has an accessible "Starter Build" Loadout that is appropriate for most content if you want to get into the action quickly and easily without worrying too much about individual skill selections. Consider it a beginning point for a generic, jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none construction. Moreover, Talents in the Starter Build can be modified to suit your requirements.

The guide is finished here. We have discussed every change and some other things to help you with your World of Warcraft: Dragonflight journey. We hope you will enjoy the new talent system as most of the players will not be familiar with this talent system in Dragonflight, but we have made everything clear, so try these things out and become a defender of Azeroth.
