Choosing the right Mythic item for PvP in The Elder Scrolls Online can be a game-changer. With so many options available, it's easy to waste time pursuing items that don't complement your playstyle or build. To save you the trouble, Sayphex Gaming compiled a list of the most effective Mythics for PvP based on community feedback and current meta trends.
1. Death Dealer's Fete
Death Dealer's Fete is the most popular Mythic item for damage dealers. It features a stacking mechanic that increases your health, stamina, and magicka every few seconds while in combat. You can gain approximately 2,640 additional points in each stat. This Mythic is versatile and can be used in nearly all builds, especially during prolonged fights in Battlegrounds (BGs) or Imperial City (IC).
This item doesn't have significant downsides, and it is beneficial for PvP healers, tanks, and all classes, particularly Wardens who love to stack HP.
However, in the Imperial City, where you might quickly exit combat, or in BGs, where you can also disengage rapidly, you may not fully stack your bonuses before entering a fight.
Tip: Take your time to build up your stacks before jumping into battle for maximum effectiveness.
2. Gaze of Sithis
Gaze of Sithis is a Mythic item that provides impressive defensive stats. It grants 4K armor, 3K health, and significant recovery, making its effects noticeable in PvP. For those unfamiliar, healing, shield power, and health recovery are all 50% less effective in PvP.
This Mythic is most commonly utilized in non-CP environments, particularly in no-CP Cryodiil and no-CP Imperial City, where proc sets are banned, and players typically rely on stat-based sets.
Gaze of Sithis can be beneficial for Nightblades as a defensive option. But its most significant drawback is that block is ineffective with this Mythic, offering no additional mitigation. This makes you vulnerable to powerful attacks like Meteor and other hard-hitting skills.
Additionally, it occupies the same gear slot as Monster helmets, which are essential in many builds. For instance, healers often use Earthcore, while Wardens, Templars, and Nightblades frequently incorporate Balorgh into their setups.
Overall, while Gaze of Sithis provides solid stats, its limitations prevent it from being widely used in many builds.
3. LeftHander's Aegis Belt
LeftHander's Aegis Belt could be one of the best defensive Mythics available. This Mythic item grants a significant shield when you roll dodge, making you much tankier. Normally, a standard roll dodge can help you evade many attacks, except for AoE damage. However, with this item, you receive a shield instead of just evasion.
While equipping this item, you can nearly double your health immediately with one roll dodge, which is incredibly advantageous. Also, you will be able to avoid AoE attacks, as your shields will absorb them, effectively mitigating damage that you might not be able to avoid otherwise.
To maximize the effectiveness of this Mythic, ensure you have the Well-Fitted traits on your gear and wear medium armor. This combination will significantly reduce the cost of roll dodging, allowing you to activate your shield more frequently. Additionally, consider using the Bastion Champion Point perk to further enhance the shield's effectiveness.
Caution: Keep in mind that if you roll dodge too often, you may quickly deplete your stamina, so use this ability judiciously.
4. Malacath's Band of Brutality
Once considered the strongest Mythic, Malacath's Band of Brutality remains a solid choice for anyone focusing on DoT (Damage Over Time) damage. This item boosts your overall damage but reduces your critical damage.
Malacath's Band of Brutality is best suited for DoT damage and high-pressure builds. It is not ideal for Nightblades, Wardens, or Necromancers, as these classes typically emphasize critical damage to burst down opponents. However, it works exceptionally well for classes like Dragonknights and Arcanists, who thrive on maximizing their DoT applications.
5. Markyn Ring of Majesty
Markyn Ring of Majesty functions as a stat-based Mythic. It provides significant boosts to both weapon or spell damage and armor, making it a versatile choice. Essentially, this item grants stats based on the number of sets you are wearing 3 or more pieces of.
Most players aim to activate at least two sets simultaneously, resulting in approximately 200 weapon or spell damage and 2,314 armor. While it's theoretically possible to have three sacks, doing so requires equipping a three-piece set, such as Agility, Willpower, and Grace of the Ancients, on your bar. However, this comes at the cost of not being able to wear a Monster helmet.
For optimal performance, I recommend having three pieces active from two different sets, which will yield around 200 weapon damage and about 2,000 armor. This item is particularly effective for Nightblades, Sorcerers, Templars, and other classes, given its well-rounded benefits.
6. Oakensoul Ring
Oakensoul Ring is a unique Mystic that simplifies combat by allowing you to use only one bar, making your combos significantly easier. This feature is particularly beneficial for new players who are learning the basic mechanics of the game, as it eliminates the need to spend time buffing or swapping bars.
However, while its ease of use is a clear advantage, there are downsides. The most advanced gear setups typically involve a back-to-front bar setup. This means you would use one piece from a five-piece set on the back bar, usually a utility or defensive set, while equipping a five-piece set on the front bar, along with a Monster helmet, a Mythic item, and one piece of training gear. This setup allows for optimal gear performance, which is not achievable with Oakensoul Ring.
In summary, while Oakensoul Ring simplifies combat and is excellent for new players, it does come at the cost of gear optimization.
7. Ring of the Wild Hunt
The Ring of the Wild Hunt is an underrated Mythic item. This ring significantly boosts your movement speed both in and out of combat. In PvP, movement speed is crucial; it allows you to avoid AoE attacks, go in and out of line of sight much faster, and escape from melee attackers.
This ring is particularly beneficial for players whose builds are already well-rounded. For instance, if you're sufficiently tanky, can deal ample damage, and don't have issues with coverage, the Ring of the Wild Hunt would be a perfect enhancement to your already strong build.
If your build is not a well-rounded one, you might find that other Mythics would serve you better by addressing those specific deficiencies, whether it's increasing your tankiness, sustainability, or damage output.
In essence, the Ring of the Wild Hunt is the cherry on top of an already excellent build.
8. Sea-Serpent's Coil
The Sea-Serpent's Coil is an incredibly powerful item, providing two of the most significant buffs in the game: Major Courage and Major Brutality. Together, these buffs grant you an extraordinary amount of damage that is often unmatched by other Mythics or even some sets.
However, such power comes with a hefty downside: you will experience a permanent 40% slow, making you highly immobile and vulnerable in combat.
To counteract this effect, you may need to completely adapt your build. For instance, equipping three Swift traits on your jewelry can provide an additional 25% movement speed. Additionally, using the Celerity champion point can grant another 10% movement speed, bringing your total increase to 31%. Even with these optimizations, you'll still be 10% slower than a standard player without any movement speed enhancements.
Overall, while the Sea Serpent Coil is a potent Mythic, it's essential to be mindful of its drawbacks and the costs associated with its use.
9. Snow Threaders
Snow Threaders are medium boots that grant immunity to snares and immobilizations but at the cost of disabling your ability to sprint. While this item may not be ideal for solo players, it is an essential asset for any group composition. The reason for this is that it allows you to bypass most crowd control effects, enabling you to move freely and uninterrupted during combat.
The only crowd control you need to be concerned about is stuns, which are often predictable and can be easily countered with Break Free. Using the Snow Threaders can save you a significant amount of stamina for more critical maneuvers, such as breaking free from control effects or roll dodging, especially if you rely heavily on stamina skills.
Overall, this is a very solid Mythic choice for organized groups in PvP.
10. The Saint and The Seducer
The Saint and The Seducer can be regarded as one of the strongest items available, with no significant drawbacks. This item provides a rotating major buff for yourself and a minor debuff for your enemies, resulting in a substantial advantage. Unlike the Sea-Serpent's Coil, which offers a constant buff at the expense of speed, The Saint and The Seducer delivers similar benefits without any trade-off.
A key feature of this item is that it grants a significant and valuable buff, albeit randomly, which means you'll need to adapt your playstyle accordingly. Typically, this item is paired with the Deadric Trickery set, which offers similar advantages and is particularly effective for Nightblade and many other classes.
11. Torc of Tonal Constancy
Torque of Tonal Consistency is one of the best recovery Mythics available. It performs exceptionally well on nearly every class, allowing you to manage your sustain with this item alone.
With this Mythic, you'll need significantly less sustain optimization. However, it's important to remember that you should use a hybrid build that incorporates both stamina and magicka for maximum effectiveness.
Knowing which Mythic to use is only part of the equation. Even the best Mythics won't carry you if you don't optimize the rest of your build.
