Final Fantasy XIV received the patch 6.3 "Gods Revel, Lands Tremble" update earlier this year, and things have been a bit slow the past few months without a major update. But worry not. Square Enix has finally announced the highly anticipated patch 6.4 and is set to hit the game later this month! If you are an FFXIV fan, brace yourself for a plethora of brand-new content, including a new main scenario, new dungeons, and many other side quests in the upcoming "The Dark Throne" update.

What's New in Patch 6.4?

The upcoming update packs a lot of brand-new content for the players to enjoy. The update's main star will be the continuation of the main scenario quest. Patch 6.4: "The Dark Throne" will follow up on where the story was left off in the previous Gods Revel, Lands Tremble patch. The upcoming patch 6.4 also includes a couple of new side quests, new Hildibrand Adventures, and the continuation of Tataru's Grand Endeavor. The new Hildibrand quest will allow you to further enhance your Manderville Relic Weapons!

The Dark Throne patch introduces a brand-new dungeon called "The Aetherfront" alongside some new Trials and Raids. The following is a list of all the new Trials and Raids planned for the upcoming patch:

The Aetherfront

  • New Trials:
      • The Voidcast Dais
      • The Voidcast Dais Extreme
  • New Unreal Trial:
      • Containment Bay Z1T9 (Unreal)
  • New Raids:
      • Pandaemonium Anabaseios
      • Pandaemonium Anabaseios (Savage)
      • Savage raid released on week after Patch 6.4
      •

Furthermore, the patch will also introduce more content to the Island Sanctuary alongside a new Ocean Fishing route. And as always, new crafting recipes, mounts, minions, and emotes will also be added.

System Changes in Patch 6.4

Apart from all the content mentioned above, the game will also receive some updates to the gameplay systems. The most appealing change is the Duty Support updates. The Duty Support System has been expanded to add five dungeons from Stormblood. These include:

    • The Sirensong Sea
    • Bardam's Mettle
    • Doma Castle
    • Castrum Abania
    • Ala Mhigo
  •

In addition, patch 6.4 also includes some changes to PvP and some adjustments to Jobs in both PvE and PVP. The new patch also commences the PVP series Four and Season Seven of Crystalline Conflict.

Patch 6.4 Release

While no exact date was announced, Square Enix confirmed that the update will go live later in May 2023. And more updates will follow up in June, bringing in more side quests. Patch 6.45 will feature more Hildibrand side quests, Splendorous Tools side quest, New Dungeon: Mount Rokkon, and a substantial Blue Mage update.

With all the new content and updates coming in the "The Dark Throne" patch, including a new main-scenario quest, side quests, and new dungeons and trials, what are you most excited about?
