Atlas Skill Points
In Path of Exile 2, Atlas Skill Points are a key progression mechanic tied to the new Atlas Passive Tree. These points allow you to customize your endgame mapping experience by improving loot drops, increasing map sustain, unlocking unique encounters, or boosting boss rewards.
Once you finish the campaign in Path of Exile 2, you'll begin mapping, progressing through the Atlas of Worlds. Early on, you'll receive a quest from Doryani, who will guide you through unlocking Atlas Skill Points. Here's what you need to do:
1. Complete 10 Tier 1 maps.
2. Complete 10 Tier 2 maps.
3. Complete 10 Tier 3 maps, and so on.
Each time you complete this quest, Doryani will reward you with a book that grants two Atlas Passive Skill Points for your core Atlas Passive Tree. These maps are commonly referred to as "maps" in the PoE community, though the game may call them Way Stones.
Tier Scaling
As you progress, the requirements to complete maps change:
Tier 6 Maps: Complete 8 maps per tier.
Tier 11 Maps: Complete 6 maps per tier.
Tier 15 Maps: Complete your last map to receive the final passive point for the core tree.
By the time you finish the Tier 15 maps, you'll have a total of 30 skill points in the core Atlas tree.
Map Boss Skill Points
When you complete your first Tier 15 map, you'll gain access to the Map Boss Skill Tree and receive two skill points. Progression in this tree involves defeating higher-tier bosses. Here's how you advance:
1. Tier 15 Map Boss: Grants 2 points.
2. Tier 16 Map Boss: Grants 2 points.
3. Tier 17 Map Boss: Grants 2 points.
4. Tier 18 Map Boss: Grants the final 2 points.
How to Access Higher Tier Maps
- Irradiated Maps: Indicated by a yellow symbol, these maps add +1 to the area level.
- Corrupted Maps: These also add +1 to the area level.
By corrupting and irradiating a Tier 15 map, you can increase its level to Tier 17 or Tier 18, enabling you to earn additional points.
Arbiter Skill Points
To unlock the last two Arbiter Skill Points, you must defeat the Uber Pinnacle Boss: Arbiter of Ash. Here’s the process:

Defeat the Arbiter of Ash in the Burning Monolith Traverse.
- Use three Crisis Fragments (Ancient, Weathered, and Faded) to summon the boss.
- These fragments drop from citadel bosses scattered across your Atlas.

Each subsequent difficulty level (1, 2, 3, and 4) will grant two points per victory, for a total of eight points across all difficulties.
Finding the Arbiter of Ash
- Explore your Atlas to locate citadels (marked as Stone, Iron, or Copper Citadels).
- Defeat the citadel bosses to collect Crisis Fragments.
- Use the fragments at the Burning Monolith Traverse, near your Atlas starting location.
League Mechanics Skill Points
To progress in league mechanic trees, you need to engage with specific encounters in your Atlas. Here are examples of how it works:
Breach Mechanics
- Complete Breaches in maps with Breach Icons.
- Collect 300 Breach Splinters to assemble a Breach Stone.
- Use the Breach Stone at the Realm Gate near your Atlas starting location.
- Clearing the Breach and defeating the boss grants 2 points per difficulty level, for a total of 8 points.
Other League Mechanics

Delirium:
- Complete a 15-wave encounter at increasing difficulty levels to earn up to 8 points.
- Use the Delirium Encounter at the Realm Gate.

Ritual:
- Defeat the boss in the "An Audience with the King" quest.
- Complete base difficulty and progress through levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 to unlock all points.

Expedition:
- Place Log Books into Dannig’s Expedition Map in your hideout.
- Fight the boss All Roth (marked by a skull icon on the map) to unlock points.
- Boss fights are available in area level 79 log books, equivalent to Tier 15 maps.
