Guide to Lost Ark Currencies
It is well known that Gold is an important currency for trading between players in Lost Ark. But besides Gold, there are still a ton of currencies playing significant roles in their respective fields. To better understand the various currencies you may come across, please don't miss this guide because Legacy Gaming will decode the dozens of currencies and upgrade materials, helping you know better and enjoy the world of Lost Ark.
Silver
Silver is the most common currency in Lost Ark. It's used for purchasing materials, repairing tools and gear, and honing gear. Silver is vital to not only your early-game success but your late game, as well. Luckily, as the second-important currency, Silver is not difficult to farm. You can obtain Silver by just playing the game, and if you have Alts doing daily activities as well, you'll be swimming in Silver in no time.
In Lost Ark, practically everything under the sun rewards you with Silver. But more specifically, questing, Una's Tasks, Chaos Dungeons, and Guardian Raids are great ways to obtain Silver every day.
There's no shortage of ways to get Silver because there's always a need to have some on hand. You'll also need Silver for faceting Ability Stones, using the fast travel systems such as Triports, Ocean liners, and BiFrost portals, and even purchasing food recipes from vendors for completing entries in your Adventure Tome.
Silver is also used to buy standard potions, Awakening Shards, and eventually as a way to re-roll gems. Therefore, don't sleep on the opportunity to stock up on Silver any chance you get.
Gold
Gold is the most powerful of all the currencies in Lost Ark and could be considered the primary driving force behind the entire economy of the game. Gold is used to upgrade gear in the later stages of progression, and upgrading gear will get exponentially more costly the further you get into the game.
Gold is also used to buy and sell things in the Auction House and Market. You'll use the Auction House to purchase stuff like valuable Engraving books or equipment with more optimized stats.
You'll constantly be chasing activities that reward Gold. There are quite a few ways to get them, including a few quests, weekly Abyssal Dungeons, some Procyon's Eye Compass islands, and turning in Una's Task tokens for Gold bundles.
Gold also performs another critical function in the Currency Exchange. Currency Exchange is a system in the game that lets you buy Crystals with Gold or buy Gold with Royal Crystals. It's a way to convert real-world money to game currency and vice versa. (Note that there is a daily cap on how much you can use the system.)
Aside from upgrading your gear, Gold can also be used to bid on items, such as Secret Maps at the end of Chaos Gates and open World Boss drops. The cool thing about the Bidding system is even if someone walks away with that item, the Gold they spent gets split amongst all the players who participated, so everyone walks away with something.
In summary, Gold is an all-important currency that has a lot of flexibility in Lost Ark, so it's something that you should never waste and always look to obtain more of.
Royal Crystals
Royal Crystals is a premium currency that you can only obtain by spending real money. You'll use Royal Crystals to make purchases in Lost Ark Shop, and it's the primary way to buy things like custom skins, special mounts and pets, and Crystal packs. You can also use the Currency Exchange to turn Royal Crystals into Gold.
Crystals
Crystal (aka. Blue Crystal) can not only be purchased via Royal Crystals but also can be exchanged for Gold, and vice versa, via the Currency Exchange.
Crystals allow you to buy cosmetics, renew or buy Crystalline Aura, and make purchases in Mari's Secret Shop. They are a kind of straightforward currency with a lot of flexibility that you'll only start caring about later in the game.
Generally, Crystal is a wider-reaching currency than Royal Crystal and impacts more systems within the game.
Pheons
One currency that isn't used all over the place but goes hand-in-hand with Gold and Crystals is Pheons. Pheons are used to facilitate purchases on the Auction House: The Auction House will charge a certain amount of Pheons for anything you bid on and win.
You can only get Pheons through specific ways. They're given out as login rewards and through special events. The other method equates Pheons-to-Gold through the currency exchange: You'll convert Gold into blue Crystals and then use those Blue Crystals in Lost Ark Shop to buy Pheons. Of course, you can always use real-world money if you want, but there is a direct line for earning them.
Una's Tokens
Una's Tokens are a currency that doesn't appear anywhere in your UI. They are physical items that are contained in your inventory.
You earn Una'a Tokens by completing daily and weekly Una's Tasks, increasing your contribution level towards a weekly threshold that progressively awards more tokens. Dailies, which can be completed three times per day, per character, award two points each; Weeklies, which can be completed three times per week, per character, award 12 points each.
It is important to do your Una's Tasks, not because of the various rewards each quest gives you, but because of what the tokens are used for – Gold. Using Una's Tokens, you can exchange the tokens for bags and chests that give a fixed amount of Gold per tier. Moreover, the 500-token chest not only gives you around 1.3K Gold guaranteed but also has a chance to drop a gold bar that can award you 10K Gold.
Also important to note is that the number of Una's Tokens awarded per tier increases in line with what your highest item-level character is on your account. This is so because you will need more and more Gold as you get higher up in levels.
Silmael Bloodstones
Silmael Bloodstones, also called Silmael Crystals, is a Guild-specific currency in the game. On the player's side, Bloodstones can be used in the Guild store to purchase items, including essential upgrade materials across all of the various tiers.
You get Silmael Bloodstones by donating to the Guild, contributing to the weekly Guild tasks, supporting the Guild's current research, and logging in.
Silmael Bloodstones are also used to unlock Guild research, which allows you to unlock additional Guild quests, expand the selection of Guild shop items, and other essential things to keep your Guild moving forward.
Providence Stones
These little heart-shaped tokens are Rapport currency gained by doing side quests and killing various enemies. Providence Stones are one of the few account-wide currencies you'll earn from Una's Tasks, and you'll need a ton of them.
Providence Stones only serve one real function – exchanging for Rapport items that you can use to advance your relationship with Rapport NPCs. There are vendors all over the world that sell Rapport items, and you'll want to be specific about what you spend your Providence Stones on because those items you buy are better at building relationships with different NPCs.
Pirate Coins
Pirate Coins are the third most important currency in Lost Ark. They can be acquired from things like marine co-op events where you salvage treasure or rescue stranded sailors. To get Pirate Coins, you will want to do any green co-op event that appears on the ocean if you're nearby.
Island quests, especially Freedom Island quests, also reward Pirate Coins. But if it's your first time taking a look at this currency, you'd better stockpile these coins. The reason for this comes down to the variety of places you can use these coins, some even being part of core-quest steps, such as purchasing Song of Resonance from the vendor on Peyto for 16,500 coins.
You will use Pirate Coins in many other quests, and they are even a requirement for unlocking the Song of Minuet from Lullaby Island. You'll also spend these coins on progression materials (from harbor vendors outside major city ports), ship upgrade materials, and much more. There are even rare collectibles from various island NPCs that you'll need to buy with these coins.
Additionally, as you dive deeper into your Stronghold upgrades, you'll begin sending out more and more voyages from your dispatch for passive resource income and Seals. These activities cost Pirate Coins and, sometimes, reward Pirate Coins. Therefore, Pirate Coins make their way into many aspects of your adventure.
Voyage Coins
Voyage Coins come in a whole host of varieties specific to each region of the world: Certain vendors take Gienah's Coins, while others ask for Sceptrum's Coins. These can be used to exchange for different things such as unique account collectibles and ship upgrade materials. There is even the option to convert these coins into Pirate Coins at a decent ratio.
Across various islands, you'll get numerous bulk chests of these coins, and it is recommended only to open them and claim the coins you need when you need them. The reason is that some rewards require over 5,000 of some of these coins, and having the option to choose what you need is invaluable.
You can also get Voyage Coins from various co-op sea quests, so these quests are even more important to do across all of your characters.
Stronghold Seals
If you've tapped into the station at your Stronghold, you might already be familiar with Seals. There are three types: Victory, Raid, and Adventurer, and they are practically the same.
You need to send your ships out on dispatch missions to get Seals. A small note: every ship has a 100% success chance. The Adaptation percentage means how effective that mission will be. The higher the percentage is, the more Seals your crew will bring back.
Seals can be used as a currency for trading with different vendors around your island Stronghold. If you head to the docks, you'll see a few vendors that are always there, including one that allows you to convert Seals of one type into another. However, the real treat is the rotating vendor that visits your Stronghold on a timer. Some of these vendors are great and offer incredible items valuable to progression and efficiency. In contrast, others provide a few Stronghold cosmetics and other things of lesser value.
You will want to keep your dispatch missions rolling as long as you have the Pirate Coins to spare. Obviously, Seal is an important currency, so you have to balance everything.
Rift Pieces
Rift Pieces are a straightforward resource. If you're paying attention to either Procyon's Eye Compass or your rolling content alarms, you'll notice the things called Chaos Gates.
Chaos Gates form in specific locations with certain gear score requirements. Head to one that you can participate in, wait with the dozens of other players in the area, and enter the Chaos Gate. What will ensue are several checkpointed areas where your group of 30 will burn down every enemy and boss you encounter, collecting Rift Pieces along the way. In the end, each player has a chance to get a Secret Map for their character and the opportunity to bid on an additional Secret Map.
The Secret Map opens up as an additional mini-dungeon somewhere in the world that awards upgrade materials in sizable quantities. The materials can either be used or sold for a decent amount of Gold.
Rift Pieces can be used at the Rift Piece Exchange vendor to get chests containing different potential rarities of the same maps. In short, doing Chaos Gates and exchanging Rift Pieces for Secret Maps is an excellent source of progression or weekly Gold.
Upgrade Materials
There are currently three tiers of upgrade materials, and each tier is virtually identical. Some materials are used to enhance armor pieces, and some materials are for enhancing weapons. Mixed with those upgrade items are two other upgrade materials that are universal for that tier and are needed across the board.
There are also specific items that will improve the success chance of your Honing. This may not be apparent when everything has a 100% chance of success at the start of your upgrading journey. Still, it's a significant factor the further you progress in the game to ensure you don't waste your materials by failing.
Tickets
There are a few types of Tickets in the game, and each gives you access to a different type of activity.
Tickets for Cube
Tickets for Cube are the most common ones. They allow you to enter the Cube Dungeon with a group. You'll fight from room to room, clearing out enemies and avoiding exploding foes. The goal is to clear out all 20 rooms and receive the maximum prize – a fully upgraded chest. If you die along the way, you just go back to whatever chest threshold you are at, which means you won't walk away with nothing.
Cube tickets shouldn't be used on a whim, so you should always find a solid group before using them.
Tickets for Boss Rush
Boss Rush is an activity that opens up after you have an item level of 802. As the name implies, the goal is to kill bosses one after another until you die. For each boss you kill, you get a small reward and, like other activities in the game, it ranges from Engraving Books to upgrade materials.
These tickets are acquired the same way as Cube tickets. You can get them by completing Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids.
Tickets for Platinum Fields
Platinum Field tickets are rare items that can be found by doing any Trade-Skill activity in the game. Getting a ticket allows you entry into the Platinum Fields – a set of two trade-skill specific zones that net you a ton of crafting materials: One zone has nodes for Foraging, Logging, and Mining, while the other has nodes for Hunting, Fishing, and Excavating. Also, you can make great use of the areas by doing the Platinum Fields in a group.
