Scripts determine the details of your Scribing skills in The Elder Scrolls Online. You can buy scripts in ESO from Chronicler Firandil, using your gold coins. However, there are nine scripts that you can obtain for free. In this guide, Ninja Pulls shows you all the locations of the free scripts you can get from Mages Guilds around Tamriel. Note that you can only collect these scripts if you own Gold Road and have completed "The Wing of the Dragon" in the Scholarium.
1. Elden Root
The free script location in the Elden Root Mages Guild
The Elden Root has a Signature Script: Warrior's Opportunity, which improves your next direct damage attack. This script might be one of the harder to find, even though it's out in the open.
Head up to the crafting area, across to the Mages Guild, and through the door. Once inside, it's on the right side of the courtyard, hiding among the glowing mushrooms.
2. Rawl’kha
The free script location outside the Rawl’kha Mages Guild
The script in Rawl'kha is an Affix Script: Vitality, which increases your healing received.
Run through the town and past the stand, but don't actually go inside the Mages Guild Hall. The script is lying on a crate outside.
3. Vulkhel Guard
The free script location in the Vulkhel Guard Mages Guild
The Vulkhel Guard Mages Guild is all the way across town. The zone has a Focus Script: Physical Damage, which changes the skill to deal physical damage.
Head inside the Mages Guild, turn left, then back outside to reach the stairs to the upper floor. Turn left again, and the script is on a table.
4. Daggerfall
The free script location in the Daggerfall Mages Guild
The script in Daggerfall is a Focus Script that adds a stun. Head south to the Mages Guild Hall. The script is directly in front of you as you enter.
5. Evermore
The free script location in the Evermore Mages Guild
It's also easy to find a free script in Evermore. It is an Affix Script for Minor Vulnerability. Go west into town, then turn north into the Mages Guild Hall. Again, it's right opposite the entrance.
6. Wayrest
The free script location in the Wayrest Mages Guild
In Wayrest, there is a Signature Script: Druid's Resurgence, also known as Resource Restore.
Go down the hill from the Wayshrine, enter the Mages Guild, and take the left stairs. The script is on a small bookshelf.
7. Davon's Watch
The free script location in the Davon's Watch Mages Guild
In Davon's Watch, you can find a Focus Script for Damaged Shield by heading northwest from the Wayshrine and going straight up to the Mages Guild. Upon entering the guild, turn right and go down the stairs. You'll find the script on a table halfway down.
8. Mournhold
The free script location in the Mournhold Mages Guild
The script you will get in Mournhold is a Signature Script: Hunter's Snare, which slows down your enemies. The Mages Guild is located near the Undaunted Enclave. Once inside, go around to the right, and you will find the script on a small, round table.
9. Riften
The free script location in the Riften Mages Guild
The last one is in Riften, and there is an Affix Script: Maim, which adds Minor Maim to your abilities.
Look to the south, and you will find the Mages Guild next to the Wayshrine. The script is located on the upper floor. Turn right and walk along until you see a script on a shelf hung on the wall.
Congratulations! You have obtained nine more scripts for free without paying much effort, or at least you have known where to find them. Remember that Grimoire and scripts are character-specific and not account-wide. So, if you want them on every character, you have to do this run a few times.
